i have fibromyalgia. i don't fully understand the illness, and one of my goals is to better educate myself, particularly on self-care. When i was last in flare, i was going to the ER by ambulance every other day for a morphine shot, which did not alleviate the pain but made me sleepy. i begged my MD to admit me and put me on a morphine drip, but of course he refused. i couldn't sleep, eat, think straight, drive far, etc. If and when i go back into flare, the pain management MD and i are gonna have a little chat. If nothing else, this is a quality of life issue. i want alternative therapies, such as massage therapy, and i want him to help me fight my crappy insurance company to get coverage approved. i want better drugs. Certainly stronger muscle relaxers (the pain seems to be a form of severe cramping). The point is, i do not intend to allow this illness to steal away 6 months of every year. i will fight it tooth and nail. pinkee
