quote:

WEST MONROE, Louisiana - At a campaign stop at a firing range, while Rick Santorum was firing off some rounds, a woman shouted, "pretend it's Obama."

Santorum, who was far from the woman, couldn't hear the comment as he proceeded with his target practice. Neither could his staffers.

But the yell - the identity of the yeller is not clear, although the words were clearly audible - was in close proximity to journalists traveling with the candidate.

"It's absurd," Santorum said of the woman's outburst when reporters told him about it. "No we're not pretending it's anybody but shooting pistols. It's a very terrible and horrible remark and I'm glad I didn't hear it."

I wonder if the woman was reading Alinsky.

Points to Santorum (never thought I'd say that!) for disowning the remark.

They sure have some strange characters here in Lousiana.
I would just like to assure everyone that it wasn't me.

That is the kind of the thing that should be investigated and prosecuted to the fullest possible extent. Granted, there's probably not a credible threat here but, this person should probably be made an example.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I don't like the man's politics but Jesus wept, can we have a little respect for fellow human beings and the elected commander-in-chief?

... and yes, props to Monseignor Santorum for plainly stating that the behavior was unacceptable.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

I don't know that such an incitement would come straight out of the rulebook, DC. More likely, just a nasty, hate-filled bitch who thought she was being funny. There's no shortage of those on any angle of the political spectrum.

Maybe she thought it would help his aim. Aren't we getting a bit touchy about correctspeak?

I mean, ferchrissake... just sayin.

K.

In this case, it's potentially Secret Service time. I think it's more than politically correct speech here.

Need not be a mountain from a molehill, OK.

VanessaChaland -> RE: Woman at Gun Range: 'Pretend it's Obama' (3/24/2012 12:52:43 AM)

Her stating what she did is not a direct or implied threat to POTUS. Just a stupid lady talking smack.
And as others have stated, rare for me as well. Kudos to Santorum for taking the high road.

Hence the term potentially.

Agreed on the stupid part.

Nah, just excited that I got a chance to mention Alinsky.

No P&R thread seems complete without him. [:)]
