ok- as a hobby, I am building my photo skills. I can remove a person from a pic- spiff it up. I am learning on this, and have done some neat stuff.

So- if you would like a pic makeover get ahold of me.  [this is not a commercial ad!]

I like to do montages. I just did 4 for a guy in Russia. ideally- I would need 2 or more pics. maybe comments on hobbies/context of event.

I hope I do not get in trouble for this post. There is no charge. This gives me practice and a different perspective- in effect improving my skills.

-regards

Very generous of you...I would like to see a sample also when you get a chance.

I have a sub card posted in my profile that i made.  I have gotten requests for quite a few from subs.  I later had to create a Dom card to satisfy those requests as well...it's all good though and i don't mind just so long as i have the time.  I like playing around with the photo stuff as well.

Ok- Im caught up on samples. I have "done" 3 folks here. :-) I can work with one photo...

I use paint -part of XP- it isnt a fancy expensive extra. Ild like to learn it better- for instance- my profile pic is dark. I dont know how to lighten it.
I am happily able to switch heads- to make it look like the whole family attended an event- or an ex did not. lol.

The nervana of this- would be to do Holograms. But that is highly skilled. I want to excel at special effects. [im a dreamer]

I also noticed I seldom smile. I wonder why???  Anyone else do that?

Photos can be scanned right into word- looks very nice too!

Anyhow I am still learning.

basically the sky is the limit. on photo.

yay. *smiles*

Indeed, and with all the copies of Adobe Photoshop (aka Photoshop CS now) around the net, you should give the free demo from Adobe, or a 'test' version of it found elsewhere on the net a try. PS is the patriarch of photo and image editing software, and used by most commercial graphics artists. There are many plugin effects and filters for PS to do amazing image/photo transformations, even morphing from one person/object to another. Most PS plugins also work with a few other smaller photo editing programs.

A great little image viewer/converter named VuePro (aka VuePrint) is available from http://www.hamrick.com and it's very easy to use a s a viewer, slideshows, viewing one format saving as another (get rid of those fat .bmp's, save a .jpg), doing a few tweaks to images such as brightness, contrast, balance, cropping, resizing, etc, and then resaving your tweaked image. Another program Ed has is VueScan which I'm told is great for scanners and digital camera users. Both apps are shareware, try and buy to fully unlock, but the internet is full of alternatives... use a virus scanner on anything you get from dubious sources.

If your hobby extends to raster imagery (linear at any screen size), then Macromedia Flash will be the tool to learn and master for doing some really amazing Flash animantion effects, with still imagery, transitions or video.

When my son was a lad, I sometimes took the joystick for the Commodore 64 away and made him learn basic programming to print his name on the screen, etc. It proved to be the catalyst he needed, as his interests then included the development side also, and not merely playing games. Today he is an accomplished graphics artist and 3-D animator/modeler.

Computer imagery and graphics is a great hobby... folks will think you are a nerd but will love your nerdy products as you get better and better.  Could there be another Boris Veejeho (sp?) in the making?

Nastydaddy, what numbers do I plug in to scewww an image. It would make someone standing still apear in action. ?

The Pro version of photoshop is $600. Rather pricey-

Movies are basically moving pics. Remember stick men that when you fan a book- the stick man moves? My impression on alot of movie editing is they wreck the sound. The kids in 20 years will be illiterate if they cant do much of this. [if not-now so]

I bookmarked the site. Thanks for the compliment.  :-)

Photo effects are usually done with the mouse, selecting or drawing an area, then apply filters, manipulate colors, etc for the selected area. You can also select the entire image and apply the desired effect to all. As far as skewing, that's normally done by dragging a corner of the entire selection, but skewing is basically rotating the entire image on an axis.

If you want motion effects, then a program that can use PS, or similar filters, unless XP Paint can use them. Using motion and possibly blur filters will provide the desired effect. I'm not familiar with any numbers to plug in as you say?

My only experience with any version of Windows Paint is using it for screen captures. Pressing both SHIFT + PRINT SCREEN will capture the current screen in windows clipboard buffer memory, and then by opening Paint (or already having it open), and creating a new image (new file), the clipboard contents (screen contents) can be pasted (CTRL + C) into the new file and saved as an image file. That saved screen capture image can then be edited just as any other image/photo. Most people think they need a screen capture program, but you really don't unless you need to quickly capture a series of screens.

Yes I agree, a licensed registered copy of Photoshop is pricey, thus my hint at finding a cracked or hacked copy on the net... after all, it is out there.

I did a quick google search for "Free photo editing software" and it returned over 65 million hits, the first link pointed to PhotoPlus 6, a free photo editor.
Check out it's abilities here:  http://www.freeserifsoftware.com/software/PhotoPlus/tutorials/default.asp
(PhotoPlus 6 has a free PDF tutorial you can also download, this link is the description of what's in the PDF).

Perfect- I downloaded the pdf.  *smacks head* I should have thought of that. It took me 4 years to figure out the scanner.

You seem very knowlegable. Remember TI99s, radio shack. ? I had one of those. One of my jobs- I thought I was so modern, dial up- then put the phone in the coupler??

We dont here much about FORTRAN COBAL,

Back in the day- it was high living to get the electric typewriter WITH the correction in it!!!!! Man- we thought we were so modern, lol.

Now- I have a large closet full of hazardous waste--err electronic junk.

Hey BTW- XM sat radio- now has commericials I heard.  bummer!

The 4 bit Radio Shack Trash 80 (TRS-80) preceeded the TI-99, and around the game machines (C-64/Atari) came the 8 bit XT boxes with their amazing 8088 processors... all DOS command line and no windows... then propelled forward in a quantum leap to the 286 class pre pentium 16 bit speed burners which evolved over the 386 class to a 486 powerhouse with 487 math coprocessor chip... and an unimagineable 1 meg of RAM, wow!

Now we have Pentiums, PII's, PIII's and the commonplace P4's averaging 2.5-3ghz and 1-4gigs of RAM... (and all the side players, AMD CPU's, etc)... where will it all end???

In 20 years your desktop may be on your keychain.

It wont end. The computer will be built into ones body. The teck now exists to have tv screen like rollable laminated poster- and they will be everywhere.
alot of teck is in the pipeline. this is not a good time to lay out cash for gadgets.

Learn teck skills or be left behind. Thats how it is.

I never-ever bought a CD. After having 8-tracks switch to casssettes- foot stomp. I bought 1 DVD via ebay.

I waited until an xp computer was scratch and dent sale- did well on that....yay.

On the other hand- I have blown 1000s on tech junk- that became obsolete- broke- or outdated.

:-)

I have a favor.. if you wouldn't mind.  My Master and I haven't been able to get any pictures done of us together.  If I sent you one of each of us.. could you just put them into one pic or something?  I am sure there is probably a way I could..but heck if I know what it is.  This would make me very, very happy.
                                      Thanks.

I love working on photos too. Restoring them is my cup of tea though, I was able to fix the tiniest of details in one photo, because I had other photos to see what was missing. It was great!
