A new Turkish shampoo commercial featuring video of Adolf Hitler declaring the hair rinse a product for "real men" has been met with formal complaints from the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and others who say it is deeply offensive.

Story and video at Yahoo News

Terrible confession: The commercial made me laugh, but then my sense of humor is twisted. I do understand why others would be enraged.

WTF was the ad agency thinking?!

That it was funny?

I find no problem with it. Some people just have nothing better to do then search out things to be offended by.

Yes it was. And I'm Jewish and my Granny R was in Europe during WW2 so if anybody has a right to be offended I do. I wasn't, any more than I am offended by Chaplin's The Great Dictator. It makes fun of Hitler, and that's never a bad thing, is it?

I sent the link to my Granny J and asked her to get Granny R's opinion of it, I'll let you know what she said.

Hey, Mel Brooks does it; it's fine with me!

I challenge you to find something Mel Brooks hasn't made fun of.

Granny R's response was that while she didn't find it funny, she also didn't find it offensive.

Springtime for Hitler is very funny.
To Be or Not To Be directed by Ernst
Lubitsch and starring Jack Benny and
Carole Lombard which Mel remade is
very funny.
You Nazty Spy! with the Three Stooges
which came out a few months before
The Great Dictator is very funny.
So, ridiculing Hitler and showing him
as a buffoon has it's merits.
Obviously those doling it out were
brilliant which always helps.
I didn't find it very funny but not
really offensive.
But I'm glad it's on Turkish television
and I'm not going to have to see it
over and over.

And yes I know the movie is The Producers and not
Springtime for Hitler.
