A friend of mine did his MA Politics dissertation on Bobby Sands, the IRA hunger striker who, on Thatcher's command, was allowed to die. The press here in the UK avoided using any pictures of Bobby Sands in any story about him because they couldn't find one in which he didn't look smiling, nice and friendly. He was meant to be an evil psycho - not fair!
This is 'race to the bottom' politics - taking it to the most primitive and brainless level. Oh hell, I wish we could move beyond it.
