NakedOnMyChain -> Why Take the Time? (6/4/2006 7:38:21 AM)

Spawned by a certain thread that goes directly against the TOS, here is my question for the day:  Why, if you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that a topic is going to be pulled, would you go ahead and post?  Most especially, why would you go ahead and post that the topic is going to be pulled (for the original poster's reference), then put a well thought out response to the question?  Why take the time?

The thread in question attracted two pages of response, most claiming that it would be pulled, in a little over one hour.  I was curious about that.  Is it taboo, therefore you're taking the opportunity to have your opinion heard on the subject before it gets pulled?  Is it the thrill of knowing you're causing the moderators to have to yank two extra pages of response instead of just the original question?  Is it because there were, at one point, well over thirty people viewing the topic, and you're an attention slut?  Why, dammit?  LOL.  I just don't understand.  It seems so... frivolous.

Rumtiger -> RE: Why Take the Time? (6/4/2006 7:42:10 AM)

attention is one, ecspecially if its soemthing like that where you can joke around...hell i'd be joking around on it right now if I dident feel i'd be getting in trouble.

Baby cmon baby we aint nothing but mammals so lets do it like they do on the discovery channel...

NakedOnMyChain -> RE: Why Take the Time? (6/4/2006 7:49:03 AM)

Uh oh, you didn't just quote "Bloodhound Gang" at me!  LMAO!  In high school I used to annoy everyone so badly by constantly singing that song.  Now I just annoy my husband with it.  Although it is funny when he and I sing it karaoke, because we both know all the extremely suggestive dance moves from the video.

Rumtiger -> RE: Why Take the Time? (6/4/2006 7:50:52 AM)

we should go the other thread and one of us posts one half of the chourus and the other posts the other half lol.

darkinshadows -> RE: Why Take the Time? (6/4/2006 7:50:52 AM)

Hello Naked.

Yes the thread is against TOS.  And I would have only responded the once as I feel very strongly that the thread you are possibly refering to, should be removed from BDSM thoughts.  That was my original response.  Non consent.

What I did object to was the obvious frivolity and as it occured misunderstanding on the certain subject.  There is a huge difference between having the ability to laugh at ourselves and make light of often difficult situations, and making light of something that is far from 'funny'.  Yes I risk being banned for participating so much on that thread, but if I hadn't, I would have been angry at myself for not standing up for something I believe in passionately.  Having seen first hand what does happen - maybe I come across as too 'pissy' or 'stuffy'.  But I am also a strong believer in freedom of information, and if I didn't speak out agaisnt something so abhorant (to me) and so far away from the basic understanding of BDSM(consentuality) - then  I would not only be failing myself, but failing those that have no voice to speak.  What gives me the right to believe I have to be a chosen voice?  Nothing - its what I wish to do - and if that makes me look 'pissy' or indignant sobeit.  At least I have been true to myself.

Peace and Love

NakedOnMyChain -> RE: Why Take the Time? (6/4/2006 7:54:37 AM)

It didn't make you look pissy.  I really was just curious.

I'm going to have to check replies later.  I have a bridal shower to throw.  I'd rather be napping.

zumala -> RE: Why Take the Time? (6/4/2006 8:10:21 AM)

I posted because I didn't realize that I wasn't supposed to, at first.  Although I guess overall the thread was helpful for at least defining the term for me.  Lord knows I spend my life trying to defend animals, nature, ecosystems, and life in general.  I'm a biologist.  I've done wildlife rehabilitation work myself.  I helped take care of abused and/or abandoned dogs and cats until we could adopt them out to families.

Honestly, my humor on that thread was never intended to be in bad taste.  Fact of the matter is, I was commenting on something I'd observed and not realized that there was another side to it.  Once I'd posted my understanding, I left the thread.

edited to add a comment...  You'd be hard pressed to keep me from kicking the sh*t out of anyone I saw abusing an animal.  Whether that abuse is of a sexual nature or otherwise.

Rumtiger -> RE: Why Take the Time? (6/4/2006 9:03:09 AM)

umm...is it just me, or did the thread in question suddenly turn into a South Park episode involving PETA, P. Diddy, and voting?

darkinshadows -> RE: Why Take the Time? (6/4/2006 9:12:05 AM)

lol..I see PETA... but not PDiddy ...  are we watching the same one?[:D]

*I prefere hooray for boobies myself*

Well Chain, no one likes to have their post deleted.

Some boards are stickier then others. Also- not every mod on every board is stable. I have made some bad calls on a board I run.

I try to abide by net etiquate, and the rules.
[tho] I am not perfect.

Tikkiee -> RE: Why Take the Time? (6/4/2006 9:47:19 AM)

I actually posted my response to the thread in question before unmentionables came up; however, by the time my post actually appeared, the word was already in place.
As to why I did not go back and post responses to what I had said. For the simple reason that after I had made my first reply, it dawned on me how insensitive I was to the fact that many consider such behavior to be extremely offensive for a different reason. I pulled out graciously and 'ate' the guilt that I was feeling for being such a duncehead [:)]

Rumtiger -> RE: Why Take the Time? (6/4/2006 9:59:42 AM)

like they do on the discovery channel...::still humming the tune::

Naked, i'd bet $5 that most P/pl have never taken the time to actually read the TOS.  However, an Op like you describe (nah, nah, nah i know this will be pulled, aren't i a pest) is a grab for attention, IMHO.

darkinshadows -> RE: Why Take the Time? (6/4/2006 12:33:01 PM)

Thing is... You sign up (here) - you agree to the TOS... simple as that. 'Squelching' wasnt the issue - just simple terms you agree to.
What I did, was because I am an attention whore and wanted to get my point across - no apology there.
[:D]People say attention whore like its a bad thing.[:D]
I choose to ignore it on this issue because I felt passionately about it - I would accept my punishment as it comes.

champagnewishes -> RE: Why Take the Time? (6/4/2006 2:00:48 PM)

I read through the two pages of posts.  I didn't reply for two reasons...

1.  Although i am sure the OP was sincere with her question, the direction the thread took was ridiculous.  Had it been on a topic allowed under the TOS, i still would have choosen not to participate.

2.  I have been around long enough to know what is allowed under the community standards set by this site.  Ignorance of the law (or TOS in this case) doesn't hold much weight when by doing so, it  jepordizes the entire sight.  It should not be left to the Mods to run behind everyone to make sure they are behaving.  We are all adults within a community and as such, we should each look out for the community's best interest.

darkinshadows -> RE: Why Take the Time? (6/4/2006 3:33:16 PM)

I am unsure if there was much ignorance of the TOS as people pointed out it was a frowned upon thread.
I do not hide behind the 'ignorance' banner.  I knew very well what I was doing.  I believe many of the sincere posters did as well.  And anyone who didn't - sure did by at least halfway through the first page.  So imo - ignorance would be a poor excuse and I totally agree with you.  There was many people who participated who were not new to CM and regularly contribute.
And although I do not agree that this is a 'community' as such - just my personal POV - I do feel there are just some subjects that are misdirected into the BDSM community, and imo, my desire was to speak in my (not others) best interest within the BDSM acronym.
I am a pteraphile, doesn't mean that is a BDSM past-time.  Its a fetish.

proudsub -> RE: Why Take the Time? (6/4/2006 4:59:58 PM)

I'm not sure which thread you are referring to. I recently replied to one i knew would be pulled because it was the first post for the OP and i wanted to point out the TOS that he broke.
