"The Shelby 1000 was built to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the
introduction of the first Shelby Cobra, and will be available in limited
numbers, although the price tag might take care of that itself.
The car costs $149,995 on top of the $49,995 price of the Shelby GT500
donor car needed to build it.  The Shelby 1000 will make its public debut
at the 2012 New York Auto Show."

This is not the only article on the net about the new Shelby,Shelby got themselves busted for photoshopping a Shelby lifting the front wheels.
http://autos.yahoo.com/blogs/motoramic/shelby-fakes-glamour-shot-safety-advocates-chastise-tech-140330533.html

"Shelby fakes photos of Shelby 1000 lifting off ground [DriveOn/USA Today] This photo above of Shelby American's 1,000-hp custom Mustang supposedly lifting its front tires off the ground ran across several auto news web sites on Tuesday. It took an eagle eye of a newspaper photo editor to notice a few things off about the picture we've highlighted above — and upon further digging, for Shelby to admit the photo had been faked and issue an apology. If you want to see a Mustang on its rear quarters, head to a horse barn."

Looks like they should have spent a little more on promo pics[but that is still a nice ride].

I was honoured to be able to drive that engine when my former nephew in law (an engineer for Ford) took it on a test road trip through the midwest. A very sweet machine. Even though, at the time, it was in one of their current bodies with an interiour that only had one seat and a bunch of computerized gizmo type thingies. My son actually got to take it for a spin on their test track at the factory along with a truck prototype they were working on. The truck test track actually scared him a bit but sold him on the quality of the new trucks.

I would love to drive that! Not own it, just drive it.

GreedyTop -> RE: 50th Anniversary Shelby 1000 Mustang. About 1000 HP (3/29/2012 6:27:14 AM)

I'd love to drive it. somewhere out west where there are miles and miles of very empty highway, and little traffic...

LaT,

If you took your "test drive" last summer It may well have been
this Mustang in the current body.  This is the factory, not the Shelby.
Although I know the two are now hand in glove.

Ford 200 MPH Mustang.

Carbon Fiber Driveshaft and components.  Active suspension.
23 mpg highway.  Very trick for a factory to the public machine.

LaTigresse -> RE: 50th Anniversary Shelby 1000 Mustang. About 1000 HP (3/29/2012 8:54:15 AM)

It wasn't last summer. A year or two before that. The engine was still being tested and no, it wasn't in the finished body.

I would have to ask John, when it was, to be certain.

As a motorhead, I am spoilt rotten. But it does suck getting anything done to my own car. It took getting the offer, reminding, asking, cookies pies and cakes, threatening, to get the engine on my M3 modified.
