I guess for me, I don't get why me, you, or anyone else is applying "shoulds" to relationships that are not your own. I also don't get by what right you even offer an opinion on what is "stupid" in other people's relationships without knowing their goals. I'm perfectly willing to say to someone, "Look, if you're trying to accomplish C than 1 & 2 are not going to get you there." But I'm not willing to just say the goal "C" is "stupid". What I see here is a tiny little mind with a terribly parochial viewpoint trying hard, for reasons unknown, to sell that viewpoint to random strangers. So for real and serious. I would genuinely and not rhetorically like to ask, "Why did you post that?" What did you hope to accomplish? By the way, I've done things to Carol that, by most people's assessments, are WAY WAY WAY more slime-ballish than our financial arrangements.

Hey OP, you already said in your profile "I AM AN ASSHOLE AND NOT CHANGING THAT JUST GET OVER IT" - now maybe you want to clean up spelling and punctuation, but why make such a long post and write a novel in your profile, when that one liner says it all. OP, with all due respect, if you intend to stay on the Internet, you could benefit from learning to write better. As far as financial domination goes, I think of it like homosexuality. It's not my thing personally, but others do it, and who am I to pass judgment on something consensual that doesn't affect me personally?

I guess the idea of someone paying my way in life is so alien that I didn't even consider that there are women who believe just being sex toys to a guy warrants him supporting her. Also, if my sub earns less money than I do - and they often do - I pay for most of what we do like dinners, entertainment, etc.

Well, Chael just got me flowers night before last when we were out at Walmart. This month is my birthday so he's probably either going to get me some earrings of one of my wishlists or some smelly goodness from Lush. Further back gifts I can remember: When overseas in the Middle East at a local bazaar he bought me 3 sets of local clothing and 3 saris that I still use today, years later. He's bought me bath-bombs and a whole 2lbs of Middle Earth (patchouli scent with rhassoul mud for exfoliation) soap from Lush when there was a chance they'd be discontinuing it (it's my favorite!). He's bought me endless cards, especially when he's deployed overseas. Massage oil to use on me. A PEZ dispenser or three each year in my Easter Basket and Christmas Stockings, just to be silly. And so on over the past 15 years.
