Another thread got me thinking about people who beg you to change your mind, when you tell them you're not interested in pursuing contact with them.

I am absolutely at a loss as to why people (especially dominant men) think that they will get their way by begging, cajoling, arguing, and pressing their point, in face of a very clear reason for say No, thanks.

Do any of them really think it works? Has anyone given into begging and not regretted it later? I'm really curious.

i have not so much run into the begging from Dominants, but i have certainly run into attempted persuasion.  And i quite agree...it's a major turn-off.   If i say respectfully, "No, Sir, i'm not interested"  or "i will not do something like that without further involvement"...that should be it.  submission can't be taken, and can't be coaxed.  It is given.

while i'd never beg, i did try to persuade a submissive who'd contacted me to be a little less strident about her expectations, and not impose what she'd called "soft limits" in her profile as requirements for activities and worse - experience. Of course, she was resolute, and i should have known better, so after i'd inferred she sought to top from on bottom, and she reacted she was just making sure to find what she looked for.  "that's not what your profile states" i replied ...anyway, i suppose both our tempers had flared when i finally told her she was "self-deluded", for which she cursed me out, and informed me she was putting me on all her block lists. my paltry response to which was just:
"darn"
and i immediately deleted her from my contact list.
lol.

I have never given into the begging per se; however, there have been a few who persisted and actually did manage to finally say something that caught my attention. Those, I formed a correspondance with. One even drove to Texas to meet us :)

Well, there's appropriate levels of persistence, I think. May I ask if that meeting went well?

Actually it went very well. He is a very nice, well-mannered young man. Following that first visit, we saw him two more times. Once, was for play  We still visit each other when the chance comes up; though no longer for play.

Those overly persistant doms drive me nuts.  I don't know why some can't take "no" for an answer...as if begging or hounding is going to do any good.

How Dominant are they if they're begging you?  I don't even try to be "persistant", if a sub told me "no" then what more is there to discuss?.

Begging, pushy, arrogant, and using that "online dominant attitude" do not get second replies when I have first said no thanks. Polite and just maybe want to correspond after I turn them down is considered and you never know. Last time I searched online I got to the phone call stage of a person I turned down twice but kept in communication until he won me over. Turn out to be a really nice guy.

Same time though, there is something upsetting about a person you say no thanks to but are communicating as freinds who after a few messages assumes or tries again to turn it into a mutual interest situation.

question:

write ask "Will you go out with me"

if ask = no;
  goto question

if ask = yes;
      exit

I personally think some people need to get some code maintenance people to fix the bugs in their head.

Just me, could be wrong, etc.

Probably the biggest belly laugh I got when reading submissive profiles, is when she says "no begging".  Not at her, just that the thought of a "dominant" begging is hilarious.

Persistence is something else, not begging.

how Dominant could a begging Dom be?  not Dominant enough for this sub.  i would think that there would be persistance but nothing even close to the point of begging.

Yes, it can be funny. It can also be annoying. What is it isn't, is attractive. LOL

How dom can a sniveler be?  Isn't the passive agressive top always the one who craves to experience that huge strap-on, in the end?  And I've got a secret code word I use for begging masters.  (slaves)

I think sometimes blood flow to the "little dom" cuts off oxygen to the brain.
