I've been curious about laser hair removal for the genital area. I would appreciate it anyone could share some more information about it, especially if you've undergone it yourself. A few of the questions I have are:

1. Does it really remove the hair so you are completely bare? For example, would you come closest to looking like the airbrushed women in magazines if you have laser? Note: I said closest...I know probably it isn't going to be exact.

2. How long does it take to have complete hair removal? How many treatment sessions approximately would you need to have? Is it permanent?

3. Approximately how much does it cost?

Thank you. I've been trying to find the best method that is most effective in being bare down there.

My girlfriend was as smooth as if she'd just put down the razor. Prices can vary regionally - ask salons near you. Your complexion etc will also make a difference - you'll need a consultation.

There's some pain - the salon gave her wine and she took a pill, but I don't remember if it was a Xanax or a pain killer.

I had a few laser treatments a few years ago and i used a numbing cream on the parts to be lasered (I used EMLA cream i believe)... how much pain also can depend on the settings.. I would go to a doctors office with properly trained staff tho..

..but i read that there are newer lazer machines that is supposed to be pain free.. if you can find a place that has those..

I'm getting it done on my face/chest/abdomen (would get it else where but I can't afford to spend that much right now).

It gets the hairs that are in a certain phase of growth (this is why multiple treatments are needed). So you'll likely never get all of it, but 90-99%+ should be gone.

Each session for me doesn't take too long 30-45 minutes I think. She said ~6 times (4-6 weeks between each) should be good for my chest and maybe a bit more than that for my face (I have incredibly thick hair).

The hairs it destroys are gone forever. There's no method of stopping new hairs from growing in as my mother found out when her mustache that she got rid of with electrolysis at 16 started coming back when she hit menopause.

I paid ~2000$ for 6 treatments of my face/chest/abdomen. A place I was going to before this charged 175$ for the first two face treatments and would have gone down in price after that (I moved so I had to find someone else).

I suggest you go to somewhere like http://www.hairtell.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/forums/36/1/Laser_hair_removal.html and do some reading so you'll know what questions to ask at a consultation. All lasers aren't created equal (don't trust people that use IPL or outdated/reportedly bad laser types) and the experience of the person using it matters too.

As for pain, I have the most coarse hair (makes it more painful) of anyone she's treated and yea it hurts. It's just enough to force a reaction out of me in the worst spots (just under the nose) and no where near what I can ultimately tolerate. I don't use any numbing agent or anything although they'll probably sell you some if you want.

Edited to add: Definitely shop around. The two places I checked in Alabama charged 175 or 325 for the same area per treatment. The three places in Maryland I settled on getting consultations from prices ranged from 2000-4000 in a package of 3-12 treatments. The one that gave more treatments than others had a bad rep for not using the machines and/or just using bad equipment and never getting results anyway and was also the one that cost 4k.

fucktoyprincess -> RE: the bald pussy look (4/9/2012 5:54:35 PM)

I am with those who recommend a Brazilian wax. If you do it regularly (every 4-6 weeks), eventually your hair will grow in much thinner, and much of your hair will stop coming in at all. At that point, you can easily start doing it yourself with home wax strip kits.

Waxing has given me pretty much a bald look and feel.

BikerDomRealTime -> RE: the bald pussy look (4/10/2012 4:06:04 AM)

I have shaved every girl that I have had and I have never had a problem achieving the bald and smooth look. Granted with a razor the look only lasts a day or two, but it is achievable. I would suggest if you are leaving stubble then you are not shaving correctly.

geekgamegirl -> RE: the bald pussy look (4/10/2012 4:17:33 AM)

For problems with ingrown hairs and razor rash, its mostly caused by infection in the hair folicle and open pores. The way to get round this is to exfoliate the day before you shave/wax, but not the day you do - everyone's skin is different so you'll have to find an exfoliant that works for your skin specifically.

To prevent the infection, after you've shaved/waxed, put an antiseptic onto the area you've depilated; anything from TCP, Dettol or rubbing alcohol, depending on how masochistic you are. (or US equivilients)

After that, you NEED to use an astringent to close the pores and prevent anything getting in them, so a toner that works for your skin. If you have very sensitive skin you can use flower waters with an added antiseptic element, so something like tea tree water - easily available on herbal/health food websites.

Then moisturise, and do it well. Aloe Vera gel is again, yet another anti-septic barrier, and is extremely moisturising, also very good for sensitive skin! But, make sure its 100% pure, and avoid like stink anything that has fragrances in... you don't want that on freshly shaved/waxed skin.

Finally, the next day exfoliate again, and if you feel the need repeat the astringent and moisturisor.

This should minimise the risk of ingrowing hairs and razor rash, oh and fresh cotton panties that are quite loose around the crotch area are invaluable. There's nothing wrong with getting through two pairs a day, particularly if you've just depilated!

Also, never, ever use sugar wax on the mucosal membrane of your vulva. That area can only really use hot waxing mothods or razors; sugar wax just doesn't get hot enough. As mentioned above as well, sugar and vaginas do not mix!

NuevaVida -> RE: the bald pussy look (4/10/2012 7:04:45 AM)

I'm envious of those who can wait 4-5 weeks between Brazilians. I get one every 2 weeks, they're expensive, and I *must* exfoliate daily (exfoliating gloves ).

But it's a better result for me than shaving - with a manual razor or electric razor.

I agree that hydrocortisone cream also helps. My skin is super sensitive and without exfoliating, hydrocortisone, and her taking a lancet to me to remove the ingrowns, I'd be in bad shape. She's awesome though - I get a shot of tequila before she pulls the lancet out. [;)]

Edited to add - there's a product out there called Tend Skin that some people have good results with, when applying after shaving or waxing. If you use this, do NOT exfoliate and use Tend Skin. Many years ago I got severe chemical burns from the product, which took months to recover from and was extremely painful (let alone ugly). I'll never use it again. But I've seen other people mention it so I thought I'd put that out there.

littlewonder -> RE: the bald pussy look (4/10/2012 10:14:56 AM)

I've tried brazilians twice both from highly recommended waxers and both times it left my skin completely chaffed, bumpy, red for at least a day and felt like I had sunburn there. However, I have extremely sensitive skin so that may be why I have problems with it.

I usually just shave but even then it's only smooth for a few hours and by evening it's already feeling stubbly. I'd love to be able to get laser treatments but it's expensive so I'm waiting till I find someone that I can reasonably afford.

hlen5 -> RE: the bald pussy look (4/10/2012 10:54:52 AM)

Does anyone have experience with the NoNo product posted by RS?

I suggest using peroxide after shaving too.

chelita30 -> RE: the bald pussy look (4/10/2012 12:45:03 PM)

NoNo has very poor reviews on amazon. Sigh. Seems to me that I'm just one of those unlucky people who has very coarse hair. If I can ever afford it, I will try laser treatment. If not, I think I'll go for a top of the range ladies electric razor and follow the advice on exfoliating/ applying antiseptic etc. Thanks to everyone for their views and advice!

I was intrigued based on this thread. But once I realized they weren't going to tell me the price on their own web site I realized it was a scam. Real products don't play games like that. It's a late-night infomercial sort of tactic. The reviews on amazon weren't particularly encouraging either. But, of course, the thing apparently works for some people... just not many.

DonJ9069 -> RE: the bald pussy look (4/10/2012 1:36:19 PM)

Epistop is a pretty good product for that & can be found on ebay fairly reasonable & if you find the right one does come with an inhibitor as well & does work fairly well. Don't get the kind on the towelet but get the cream it's better.

Yea, in my experience, products that claim amazing results generally barely work acceptably on very fine hair people could just shave without problems anyway and are useless on those of us with thicker hair.

I've been blessed with incredibly fine hair there, and I've never had the need to shave.
However, one valentines day, I got creative and did my best to present him with a heart
shape of incredibly fine fluff.
So to answer your query, patience and precision, yes, but not really difficult at all.

Speaking of topics I'd forgotten about....

I believe the local saying is "pictures - or it didn't happen!"

And I wouldn't want you to come across as telling fibs. *gasp*

Now to see if someone answered my "brazillian" question. Heaven forbid I have to Google it all on my ownsome.... <pout>

Focus.

Argghhh - stupid lack of proof reading....!

Not just that.. I could not find any contact info on it from the site (red flag!) and you only get a money back guarantee if you order direct thru them.. problem is.. and I am not saying this company operates that way but i do know some companies that provide womens products that do the following:

- if they ship from Taiwan or Korea or some place like that.. you might have a hard time getting your money back
- if they only use paypal for payment,.. paypal (last time i used it) only gives consumer protection measure for 30 days i believe.. which means if you wait until past that to day 40 or 50 (since the no!no! supposedly give a 60 day money back guarantee).. then paypal's obligation to you no longer exists and good luck getting your money back..

buyer beware..

fetisheden -> RE: the bald pussy look (4/10/2012 4:52:28 PM)

i never touch my body with razors, only nair(all over).never had a bad reaction....

seasnail -> RE: the bald pussy look (4/10/2012 5:07:19 PM)

what i do to stop burning the softer bits is to use a valisline type product to stop the Nair from burning those parts. It works very well. Plus depending on how much you use and where you apply outside of the inner lips and clit, you will get a landing strip.

littlewonder -> RE: the bald pussy look (4/10/2012 7:27:12 PM)

I've used Nair on my legs and left me with burn marks all over. I will never ever use that stuff again.

kitkat105 -> RE: the bald pussy look (4/10/2012 11:48:34 PM)

Yeah, I would never use Nair there. In fact, it says not to, so you're pretty much asking for severe chemical burns. Enjoy explaining that to your local emergency department.

I'd love to cry in sympathy for you, but I did the same thing on my balls once.... only once. I've used it since but a crapload more carefully LOL.

Carol, however, is a different story. There's just too many inney-parts there. I'd contemplated using Vaseline to protect the delicate areas but even that seems not worth the risk.
