Well, this is akward.

I'm into conlangs, as an amateur, for fun.

Being me, I couldn't resist playing with kinky applications, which was kind of fun, but seeing as none of the kinksters I know are conlang enthusiasts, and none of the conlang enthusiasts I know are kinksters, I figured I would have a look around to see if there are other people here that might want to exchange ideas or collaborate or whatever.

So... anyone else get off on conditioning their vowel fractures properly?

Health,
al-Aswad.

~FR~

For the ignorant (like me):

conlang - Short for "constructed language". A language that does not occur by natural process and is not a normal product of a national culture, but is invented either for personal/private use, fiction (Klingon, Tolkien's Quenya), international communication (Esperanto), political reasons, or as an experiment.

Carry on... :)

I have always wanted to play like that... I have a penchant to make up words - in both languages I speak. It makes people laugh when I put the wrong suffix on a base form of a word. I love toying with my words like that. It's FUN! I work with someone who knows Esperanto, and I'm all agog about that! I am embarrassed to admit that I do in fact know one or two words (BUT ONLY ONE OR TWO) in Klingon. Also, Aswad, you might enjoy this group of people who seem to love language.

Well, on the subject of JRR Tolkien, there is a passage in Sindarin which deals with the beauty of some elf-maid's feet (the word for which is, ironically, "tal"), so I'm inclined to think the man had an appreciation for some of the finer things in life beyond his linguistics.

As for making up words, the most difficult part is obtaining a consistent result and workable grammar. That said, an example phrase from a now discarded effort from a good while back went "vısa̩ın ye sī þwa elā̩ðrı̩n, aþēa." ... it was a dead end, but the sound wasn't entirely unpleasant.

Health,
al-Aswad.
