SubmissiveFem21 -> room into a dungeon (4/12/2012 12:36:41 PM)

Hi to everyone. I have been wanting to turn my room into my own personal dungeon and needed some ideas or suggestions I know I could go look it up but I wanted to ask. I am a submissive and I'm finding the more I get into it I'm wanting to do things at home when not with my sir.

Never make your bedroom a prison!

I always had a very particular mindset about my bedroom always being my 'haven' and dungeons/playrooms always have a certain element of .. excitment/anxiety to them, I could never really relax in one.

I suppose if you build the room up with your own personal touch it will probably feel more like a haven and relax room.

Thanks

Well, how much space you have (do you have room for a cage?), how much privacy you have (can you have a spanking bench out in the open?) and how much money you have all figure in.

I think the most important piece of furniture in your bedroom is your bed. So is yours designed for easy bondage? Mine looks like an elegant reproduction piece that just so happens to have 2 tall posts on each end of the headboard and a smaller one in the middle. I have chains attached on the bottom support on all 4 sides, which are covered by my bed skirt. The mattress pad is waterproof. All together we have 6 large pillows, so keeping older bones in place for some time is easier on the joints.

I have a chair I use in front of my computer (I am sitting in it now) which just so happens to be constructed in such as way as to be sturdy and easy to tie or wrap a person into.

I keep floggers and paddles on the hooks inside my closet door. Our other gear is stowed in a big duffle bag and tossed in the closet.

Lighting, scent, music, are other things to consider. I use candles for soft lighting and sexy aromatherapy. Mood music comes from my pc.

I know someone who keeps a wooden cross in her bedroom. She painted it to match and hangs her purses and hats and scarves and such on it. Unless you know what a cross looks like, it just looks like a large, handy, wooden hanging device in the bedroom.

Most sites that sell BDSM toys also sell furniture and things that allow you to turn a door frame into a suspension device.

You should give some thought to what you *really* want the space to do. (For instance, we don't do suspension, so we don't need a device for that, but we love flogging, so a cross *would* be nice.)

There's so much you *could* do with the space and the money.

Personally, I like having a bedroom space that appears totally vanilla (as long as you don't move the bed skirt. LOL)

Yes I want to create something where to the normal eye it doesn't stick out but whenever I want to it will. Great advice and thanks

This conversation might more appropriately be in the equipment forum ... however, be that as it may, I'd suggest a bed that allows four-way tie downs.

A winch in the ceiling is good. As is a drawer well stocked with vibrating toys.

Oh, and a dresser with the whips and restraints.

And a pretty pillow on the bed.

Master and I want to get a small two bedroom apartment just for this reason. Bedroom is a bedroom, and play room is out..well, play room :)

It depends on the room you have and what you want int it . This can be done so the can be moved around and clamped down so not to move . I have a bed I wan to build that raises her off the bed over me in any way I want .

Has lots of plans for things that will, transformer like, morph into kink useable items from seemingly everyday items like a pot stand or coffee table. :-)

Amazon sells a thingey that goes under your mattress and allows you have spread eagle attachment points. It's like $50. Start small, book that St Andrews Cross later.

Our front room has a bookcase that is half filled with candles and alcohol (for fireplay), and sharps container. We have a small dresser in the front room with most of our other equipment (fire wands, duct tape, rope, misc toys). Our sharps box sits on a small table in the front room, and our play case sits under a small writing desk. We have a crate that is full of our impact tools, there are so many children's toys mixed (that we also use for impact play) it's harder to identify the obvious ones.

Our knives live in the bedroom, on each of our bedstands, we have drawers in our bedstands, so one drawer has some toys in it.

We don't do a lot of bondage and like improvising spaces, we put the headboard on the bed in case we ever want to.

Essentially we have a lot of storage so we can stow things away if we need to, overall though people coming over know we're kinky or we don't care if they know.

Innocuous looking play things can be easy to acquire. What you gain in looking innocent you lose in ability for harder play. An Under Bed Restraint System will do a lot, but a strong victim will dismantle it. Silk ribbons can be strung basically anywhere and taken down as rope. Honestly, a pair of cuffs, a blindfold, and wide collection of toys is cheaper/faster/easier/more portable. A Hitachi wand, uniglove, and a roll of bondage tape will turn a sub to mush faster than a revolving upside down St. Andrew's cross.

Choose your furniture carefully and get good drapes.

Home recording studio geeks have the best sound proofing advice.

Hard floors are colder than carpet, but bodily fluids, lube, candle wax and leather polish, clean out easiler.

Chaise Lounges. Originally thought chaise lounges are pompous. Then realized quite dom, sub, and generally sexually versatile. Perfect for worshiping doms or securing subs. And there's the all time favorite "over the arm rest."

Any furniture should be hardwood which is strong, not ordinary wood. Ikea I'm looking at you. Unlike sitting furniture, sexy furniture gets shaken from side to side and other angles not expected by designers.

Steel framed for hefty people, should support multiple ordinary people bouncing up and down.

And if you say you're into indoor climbing, upside yoga suspensions even suspended chairs, you can get a proper hardpoints in your ceiling and wall. Don't skimp on your ceiling hooks, they should be on proper loadbearing beams and designed with a safety factor. Make sure you design for a "dynamic" load (Weight and it's momentum) not a smaller "Static" load (the weight sits there unmoving). Since people aren't potplants.

If you've got a dog, get a dog cage. Make sure to lock it so the dog doesn't get into it.

And if you've got a garden, there's little difference between swings and sex swings.
