Seriously. None. They already have far far far too much.
If they did not have too much money, all the Solyndras would not have happened.
If they did not have too much money, GSA Vegas could not have happened.

I consider this worse, in its own way. One shrub. 500 miles. $205,075.00

We are doomed

Huh, I bet you didn't complain about trying to put the fix in on the oil lottery.

fr

There's so much money it's all lent out and more to lend still.

Do you think we could start a movement for the criminalization of a crime we will define as Wanton Waste of government money? Maybe just a website upon which whistleblowers can post details of outrageously expensive projects or expenditures.
Establish a judiciary to determine whether such projects/expenditures meet the minimal threshold to be classified as criminal.
Then, quarterly, we can vote (for a fee of $20) for those projects/expenditures we as individuals think should send those responsible for the crimes to jail.
The ten getting the most votes are determined to be guilty and off to the hoosegow they go for a few years.
The whistleblowers who nominate them get 6 months paid vacation.
The President is of course free to pardon them if he wants to take the political risk of approving of their conduct.

Or... every one of us with $20 is a juror, and the goddamned bureaucrats answer to us.

Seriously. These people need to go to jail. A certain element of capriciousness would go a long way, perhaps, to making them toe the line.

Or, we could do nothing and just accept utter ruin.

We could, except your buddy George W. gutted all the whistleblower legislation.

C'est la vie.

Yea right...let's have such a law and half of Wash., DC would be headed for jail including most of the pentagon and the CIA....worlds of waste in their own right.

As for your OP, where have you been for over 40 years. The US federal govt. has been a cash cow for that long just since WWII.
The 19th century was far worse, now it's clothed in ideology and instead of the banker or corporation stealing your money or labor, society just gets deeper into debt.

It's amazing the ridiculous shit you cons come up with to complain about.

The previous administration sent several thousand American citizens off to die based on a willing lie.
Tortured people simply to torture them (they already knew torture would not revel useful intel).
Funneled billions of dollars into a company run by the VP and his close friends to replace KP duty in the military.
Allowed out of control lenders and investment bankers to nearly crash our entire economy.
Proclaimed the rights myself, my ancestors and relatives fought and died to protect 'quaint' and simply decided that we no longer had those rights.
And the conservative movement never said a single word in protest. Now suddenly you're all good government sorts outraged that a company got a loan guarantee by political means.

The article references the spree, not any of the other things listed.

Now, as far as whistleblowing, a quick search reveals the Office of Special Council and the Disclosure Unit Hotline Number is 1-(800)-572-2249.

I kind of found the Solyndra situation interesting, and all those other solar firms that had government investment. When many relocated to China, conservatives screamed that we hadn't put enough money/breaks/etc. into these companies.

If the fed had taken them over or had a majority stake, why, that would be socialism!!!

(Remember, if Obama could walk on water, the Republicans/Fox would scream "Obama Can't Swim!!")
