IT's annoying, and it should be somehow against privacy policies for face book to do this. I know for a fact that i do not know these people, and the one person it did friend, i would not willingly ask to friend me on face book, since i do not want to be fb friend. But there they are, accepting friend invites from me i never sent.

Did you sign up for one of those find friends for you things? Those are apps and can be turned off. Has someone else been on your account(have you been hacked)? To fix that you would pretty much have to get a new account.

The only way to avoid the nonsense is to delete your account.

well isnt it against some privacy policy or something, how do they get away with befriending people you don't know on your behalf. And how do they do it.

I have to ask....how do you know your account hasn't been hacked? Most people that hack accounts on fb do it so they can make lists long and then send the people on the lists spam bombs for scams.

Facebook does not send out friend requests without your permission. You probably clicked on a link virus someone else "posted" which was actually the virus in their computer that now infected yours.

Or you clicked on a link in your email saying that so and so wants to be your friend. Those are not from FB. They're spam.

Or someone hacked your acct.

Because, there's been a long trail of face book ass shattery associated with face book, seems violating privacy and stuff is one of their fortay's, plus i suppose one could be hacked , even if you only use face book to talk to your sister in law and nothing else, but it's highly unlikely I would assume, when you've been hacked they do malicious things with your account, in my experience, not send friend invites to strangers.

I don't click on things friends posted, i only use face book to talk to my sister in law. and even that is sporadic since she doesn't initiate contact unless i do, and i am not into chasing people. if they want to talk i feel they'll make the time to say something .

I don't play the games, run the aps, click on things people posts. I don't click on emails saying so and so wanted to be friends either, I never got any, but had i, i would have deleted them as spam. Since i am not on facebook to make friends and what not most use it for.

I also seem to remember last year there was a big stink about face book doing just what i have said, to other members, and other violations of privacy. In fact, someone posted quite a few articles about face book's ass shattery, on collar , but it's been so long the threads are long buried in the sands of time.

First I would suggest changing your password, then after that, go into your privacy settings and there are buttons that you can click on under there that stops all that mischief. good luck

You can set your default privacy to friends or custom, it sounds like it is listed under public, I closed mine to custom, and I don't get those unwanted friend requests any longer

I think there's sometimes an option for it to use your e-mail account and basically contacts everyone who happens to be in your address book for one reason or another

I've always declined...

It kind of sounds like a virus though, it's not something I've heard of facebook doing before

IMO, if you're afraid your privacy is being invaded, don't be on Facebook...or any other website for that matter. When I'm on FB I automatically assume that I have zero privacy even if I have my settings set to do just that.

Anyone who thinks they have privacy online are deluding themselves.

That's cool, i'm not getting friends requests though. They're being sent out. But maybe changing stuff in my account options will help.

Actually little known fact....unused accounts are more likely to be hacked than over used ones. Hackers assume that people who often use their accounts will notice and put a stop to odd things going on. As it often happens on yahoo as well the point of hacking a facebook account is so they send friend requests (or links) from people that seem harmless. Those requests to infect other computers and then their accounts do the same thing. This is not the fault of facebook as they can not stop every hacker on the planet.

As for people have issues with their privacy before...most of those have to do with people thinking that if they set their profiles to private that no one can see them. This is a fallacy as the law can still see everything everyone does on facebook. So can many empolyers.

The only way to avoid the nonsense is to delete your account.

It is against FB policy. But weirdly enforced. For example, if someone went willy-nilly adding all those suggested people, they'd get a FB warning asking them to delete those sent requests. Yes, that's an ineffective, messed-up way to do it, since FB is doing the suggesting.

It also works against legitimate interests--I have a FB page solely for networking, and friends of those friends will indeed be interested in becoming friends, and vice versa. But that can only happen slowly.

Bottom line is this---if you aren't paying, you aren't the customer....you're the product.

Go into Account Settings, Notifications, Notification Settings. There you will see All Notifications. You will see Facebook, Groups, Questions, Events... Look for an envelope icon. Click edit and clear the checked boxes. I swear FB doesn't aggressively try to stop all notifications. I have found several security holes which I have reported to FB with no reply.
