So... I do not get excited about blind or first dates, as a rule. I mean, it's someone you haven't met yet. Most of them do not work out and are not a match. BUT... I had a blind date scheduled for today. He was supposed to be driving up from BFI... He asked me if he could drive up to see me, I didn't ask him... I gave him my #.

He called last night and we talked for like 3 hours. He was a Christain. He was Kinky. He was Monagamous. *(please add the phrase He said or He claimed to be in front of any and all 'he was's). He was active in both church and the kink community. He was on good terms with his family. He was so perfect. Of course, all perfect guys are either married or gay, right? Guees which one he is.

When he became late, I called the number he called me from last night to make sure he wasn't lost. His wife answered the phone. He and she and their six kids are living together with her sister while they get on their feet. Since he doesn't have a cell phone, he had called me from his SIL's cell phone.

I guess I don't have a date for tonight. Oh, well.

Sounds to me like it's a good thing he failed to show and you found out the truth.

This is a horrible situation. It could happen in any dating situation. However, at least you found out. Good for you. I once didn't find out until months into the relationship, and of course my heart was broken. Just a reminder to be careful!!!

I think it is better that you found this out before anything really started. As much as you have invested in this, it is really not that much at the end of the day.

I do think, generally in life, if something/someone sounds too good to be true, it/they usually are. A sad reality.

Oh, I know. i really have nothing invested. I'm happy to spend my evening alone instead of with a lying cheat who was a good con. I'm glad of it.

Sorry to hear about that, but sounds like you avoided a big waste of time with a liar. Watch out for the ones who have to advertise about how Christian they are and how active they are in church.

There's obviously nothing wrong with either, if that's what makes you happy. But the more they advertise that, the more I see it as a front. For them, it's all about saying what you want to hear in any given context, to garner whatever they can get from you until you find out the truth. Organized religion is just one more venue for them to hunt.

Wife and 6 kids but not on his feet yet? So much for getting your priorities straight. Or that he's looking "on the side"....

Poof goes the "perfect" bubble.... lol

Focus.

Ugh, what a jerk off, good thing you found out right away. Think of the time he spent lying to you when he should have been doing something with his kids or wife. Did you mention to the wife that he was late to a meeting with you?

Yes, when she answered she didn't say who she was, just asked who I was and why I was asking for *name*. I told her we were friends and we were supposed to meet for the day and he was late and I was checking on him... that's when she told me she was his wife and he had six kids and all that. what a jem, LOL

No don't there were lies involved, but I'm doubting you still have the truth.

I couldn't imagine divulging such personal information with a stranger, le alone the woman my husband was going to cheat on me with.  Saying I'm his wife, sure.  But that we had six kids? Lived with my sister? And were experiencing financial difficulties?  That just doesn't make sense.

His "wife" did give out lots of info to a stranger but it's possible. It's also possible it was part of some elaborate humiliation scenario on his part. However it seems like you are better off without this guy, and the price was not too bad. Good luck.

I heartily concur here. Men and women have this issue of trusting the 'perfect' people way too much. It's a real simple lesson - if it seems to good to be true, it probably isn't.

The easiest way to find someone dependable is to find someone with an acceptable up front fault.

Go looking for the gal that has a bit more weight than you prefer and you won't be disappointed. Go looking for the guy that admits he is poorer or shorter than your ideal and you know you have an honest one.

Maybe she exaggerated in order to make him sounds as unpalatable as possible. Maybe it just all came pouring out because these were things she felt more comfortable griping to a complete stranger about than to her friends and family. That's pretty common.
