Toppingfrmbottom -> Does any one else find trying to get a dr with blue cross as angering an frusterating as i do? (4/14/2012 5:34:13 PM)

I am attempting to get Daddy set up with a dr, now he has health insurance, Yes, i have his permission to do this, he's greatful i want to help, since it free's him up to focus on other things.

I search zocdoc for Dr's in sacramento who're GP's, and they give me listings that are an hour out of town, and then when i search Roseville, none of the dr's listed are accepting new patients, and if they are it's months before they have an appointment.

I go to anthem.com/ca, and i try to get them to tell me his user name and password since he forgot it, it keeps saying his user name is .......... and when i go hit reset password the user name THEY TOLD ME IS HIS, comes back as an incorrect user name.

It's seriously maddening, and frustrating and if this is how blue cross regularly is, i am so fucking glad i have medical and medicare.

I've actually enjoyed my visits to Blue Cross Blue Shield's online site, both in
searching for a doctor and for looking up previous claims, etc.

There are many more doctors that accept Blue Cross than there are that don't.
Try checking with your own primary doctor, or your parents, or your neighbors.
You really don't have to rely on some online site for your search.

poise, i don't know if Kiaser takes blue cross or not, i'll have to wait till Monday, since the dr's office is closed till then. I usually find the internet is very much easier than picking numbers and calling around. I found him a dr but i didn't realize it was over an hour away almost in the south bay from us[:(] So the search starts again.

I figured it shouldn't be very hard to find a dr, you just google Sacramento Doctors accepting blue cross. But nothing is coming up, or the links that do come up the dr's are not accepting patients, or it's not known if they're accepting blue cross, or even better, THEY'RE NOT IN SACRAMENTO! WHY for all things holy is a search engion for SACRAMENTO not turning up people ACTUALLY IN SACRAMENTO.

Not every doctor has a web site or keeps it up, their business isn't necessarily driven by internet traffic. Most doctors have more than enough patients to keep them busy, they don't need to advertise. Get a phone book, go to the yellow pages, look up doctors in the area you are interested in and start making calls Monday to ask if they accept Bluecross and are accepting new patients. Keep a notepad handy so you can write things down.

if the damned anthem.com website would let us reset his password it'd be as easy as going to anthem.com/ca but the websites fucked up for some reason.

poise, i don't know if Kiaser takes blue cross or not

Kaiser and Blue Cross are competing health insurance companies.

Why can't your 'daddy' get his own doctor ? It seems as everything you do, or try to do is a huge problem.

He's dragging his feet taking his sweet time to call and find one, some because he keeps forgetting and some cause he's a slow poke. and i want it done now, so i am taking over, cause i get shit like that done in a timely manner. He's said if i find the appointment and book it he will go. I did have one, but it's in walnutcreek lol, i misread and thought it was much closer. I thought it said woodland.

Also, have you ever thought it might be my job to do these things in service for him? Or because it makes me happy It's not my job, but it does make me happy taking care of the little things, but if it was my job, it's not unusual for the ones with more free time during business hours, and more enthusiasm to do the task.

Was there no book in the insurance packet that listed doctor's that accept the insurance?

I was thinking the same thing. Every time I have a question about doctors, prescriptions, coverage of procedures, etc., I call my damned BC/BS office locally. Why don't you do that, ask them for the name and numbers of a few doctors in the area. Heck, I'd bet they have a listing of all the doctors right on the BC/BS website.

Muttling -> RE: Does any one else find trying to get a dr with blue cross as angering an frusterating as i do? (4/15/2012 5:59:00 AM)

I don't know about California, but in Tennessee there's 2 different BC/BS plans. The one for private companies is really good while the one for State employees (like me) sucks as many doctors won't take it.

DarkSteven -> RE: Does any one else find trying to get a dr with blue cross as angering an frusterating as i do? (4/15/2012 6:02:12 AM)

Either call BCBS or go to their website, and get a list of all docs in Sac that take BCBS. Usually that list will also state whether they're taking on new patients or not.

you shouldnt need a user id/password to do a physician search on the site. should be able to go to provider directory, put in your address, select "miles from" in the dropdown. after the list is generated, on the right there should be a filter box marked "accepting new patients"

outhere69 -> RE: Does any one else find trying to get a dr with blue cross as angering an frusterating as i do? (4/15/2012 7:44:05 AM)

Yep, I've frequently done the same. I think I've used the login account 2 times in the last 5 years. Just make sure you've picked the right plan (HMO or PPO).

No, they didn't give him one Aylee, but he did log into anthem last night on his kindle and found the names of 5 dr's we can call on Monday, One of those damned dr's has got to be accepting patients and have appointments soon one would hope lol.

When you're logged in, it lists if the dr's that are coming out of your search are in his network or not, that's kind of important to know , but you could also find out by calling them during business hours too. It was just mega frustrating that they kept telling me what his user name was, then telling me that wasn't his username, once i tried to get them to reset the password.
