He has a name, why do you have such a problem with using it?

Surely a question you should ask those calling Martin that ? Moonie was being sardonic.

That is called a declarative interrogative; best case.

Wrong.

So only anti gun people should be involved in writing gun related laws?

Well, if that story actually holds up in court, then Zimmerman might have an out. Don't get pouty if it turns out he's been talking out of his arse about that, though.

By that same token, when he's acquitted, be sure to return here and apologize for presuming him guilty.

Just to let you know, Martin does not have a criminal record, not even a junviel one. Zimmerman been arrested 3 times, domestic violence, resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer.

Jut to let you know, an arrest does not a record make. He has no convictions for those things you speak of *and* they were at least 5 years go. Martin's transgressions are a part of his scholastic record and far more recent.

Zimmerman who was on Neighborhood watch patrol was carrying a firearm, against the rules.

Nope. Wrong. He was returning from the store. Try gain.

Zimmerman profiled Martin because he was wearing a hoodie....

Nope. He reported someone walking slowly in the rain, from one living area to the next as though he did know where he was going.

Not really. I figure at this point he will have to be convicted of "something." Not because he's guilty, but because of those who will riot otherwise.

Wrong they do keep arrest records, not a conviction but it is record. As to Martin school record, his last suspension was for allegedly carrying a plastic bag containing marihuana residue, the school even admit that test proved negative, no arrest, yet he was suspended. Another was he was carrying a screw driver, alleged burgury tool..gee I have about 7 screws driver, this is old cheap trick police use to justifiy arresting someone, The courts have ruled this illegal. Martin was observed in a restricted area, and with other who the school alleged were graffting walls, no graffty was found. And finally he was suspended for tardiness. I was suspended in High School as well. These hardly compare if at all

the only source I heard about Zimmerman was from a TV interview with Zimmerman brother, he stated Zimmerman was going "TO" the store that night (you need a firearm to go to the store?) It was Martin who was returning from a store, he purchased some snackes.

Dispatcher

Sanford Police Department.

Zimmerman

Hey we've had some break-ins in my neighborhood, and there's a real suspicious guy, uh, it's Retreat View Circle, um, the best address I can give you is 111 Retreat View Circle. This guy looks like he's up to no good, or he's on drugs or something. It's raining and he's just walking around, looking about.

Dispatcher

OK, and this guy is he white, black, or hispanic?

Zimmerman

He looks black.

Dispatcher

Did you see what he was wearing?

Zimmerman

Yeah. A dark hoodie, like a grey hoodie, and either jeans or sweatpants and white tennis shoes. He's here now, he was just staring.

Dispatcher

OK, he's just walking around the area…

Zimmerman

looking at all the houses.

Walking around looking at the houses, Martin was staying with the girlfriend of his father, who lives there, walking around hardly a criminal activity and the Superme Court ruled it was not criminal conduct.

How cute.
And I'm doing him a disservice by "presuming him guilty".
Nice double standard you got there, homes.

subspaceseven -> RE: "Stand Your Ground" law under attack.... (5/3/2012 11:34:59 AM)

There is a developing story in FL about a women who may spend 20 years in jail because she fired a warning shot in a domestic despute case.

Leave the person alive and they can testify against you....... They are saying the Stand your Ground Law does not apply, because she claims she was being attack and that is why she fired the warning shot...

According to the Judge, she (judge) does not believe the women was being threatened enough to warrant firing the shot, she could have left .....Huh...I wonder why Zimmerman does not have to explain why he got out of the car, why he just did not get back in the car????? Jeezzz to bad the only pother person who knows what happened is dead....

Maybe if Zimmerman just fired a warning shot...he would have been arrested instead of killing someone and let go for a couple of weeks to work on his story

There are several ways to look

You also have referred to Martin as a "punk" perhaps not racist but still degratory

And in a country where a person is innocent until proven guilty, an arrest record is just that and only that -- a record of arrest. He was convicted of no crime.

No no. No need to use the word "allegedly" in reference to why he was suspended. He *was* suspended and the reason for the suspension stands as a matter of his record. You say the tests were negative. So? There are drug users and junkies who clean their urine before a piss test. Doesn't meant they aren't junkies. Just means they know how not to get caught.

But you'll still let us know when you successfully manage to board a plane with one, yes? Schools set their own rules. This is nothing new.

It's still a record and a more recent one than Zimmerman's convictionless record at that.

ORIGINAL: Nosathro

You continuing to state this is a lame diversion attempt at best. You don't get to decide where a legally-armed citizen can carry his firearm. Criminals carry wherever they wish, without regard to the laws. CHL holders certainly can carry where they wish, in case one of those criminals finds them out somewhere and thinks they are an easy target.

Looking at? So he was house shopping now? I'd think a neighborhood watch volunteer would A) know who lives in his area and who does not and B) be able to discern on his own who looks suspicious and who does not.

Homes? Now you're house shopping too? [8|]

It ain't a double standard at all. It's a certainty. The anniversary of the Rodney King fiasco just passed. You think those people won't riot if they don't get the outcome they want? Those same people who put out shirts with wanted: dead or alive posters on them? You're dreaming.

Nope, not even that post. Because if you read the post that was replying to, you'd have sen that person was already being racist and playing the race card, blaming the big, mean white man for shooting a black teen (never mind the fact that Zimmerman was Hispanic and not white).

When someone plays the race card, calling them out on it is not racist.

I'd say the same thing about anyone with a record like his that attacked a man for the oh-so-nefarious transgression of asking who he was.

Now your making shit up to back up your reasoning. The poster in question never mentioned Zimmermans colour, not once not ever. (Ice and Skittles thread) What was pointed out, by many of us, was Zimmermans preconcieved notion the black kid was up to no good. I would like to know how stating something that Zimmerman clearly said can be construed by yourself as "playing the race card"

Bullshit. Now you're just guilty of selective reading because you don't agree with my position. How sad. The poster in question based her entire point on the fact that Martin was profiled because he was black and that Zimmerman wasn't arrested because he was white (neither of which as true of course as he *was* arrested and was *not* white, but hispanic). This of course means she was jumping to conclusions and......playing the race card.
