is the daughter of my friend Kathryn. She is in a wheelchair and has a severe brain injury. She is in a contest for their family to win a wheelchair equipped van, which would make a HUGE difference in her life..please take a minute each day and vote for her? More info below! And here is where you vote: http://www.nmeda.com/mobility-awareness-monthttp://www.nmeda.com/mobility-awareness-month/heroes/colorado/fountain/955/kathryn-mathish/heroes/colorado/fountain/955/kathryn-mathis ...You can make your vote worth FIVE votes, if you enter one of these codes: 801, 956, 745, 805, 873, 967, 847, 889, 890, 785, 880, 831, and 720. Here is Lily's story: Five years ago, three perfect beautiful babies were born to our family, but when they were four months old, our precious triplets got a very dangerous virus, RSV. While our other babies recovered normally, Lily did not. She suffered a very severe anoxic brain injury, robbing her of her chance to walk, talk, eat, and so many other things that her brother and sisters do daily. As the triplets and their sisters are growing up, their needs are growing as well. Lily is a growing girl, but still very fragile. She has badly broken her femur simply from being lifted out of her wheelchair. To get Lily into the car, we have to carry our 40lb girl in one arm in order to get everything situated. The carseats hurt her legs and dislocated hips, making her cry. She often vomits non-stop from the pressure of the carseat harness. We have to give her heavy medication, such as Valium, just to make it through a trip without risking pneumonia or worse. Each time we get her in and out of the car, Lily screams in pain, and it is very difficult to get her comfortable again. Often, Lily has to stay in the car while her brother sisters get to go to parks and other fun things. Just going to a toy store causes Lily so much pain that it is just not worth it. If she has a long day of Dr appointments, she ends up unable to respond because of the horrible pain. She becomes nearly comatose, just because we've moved her too much. Lily can not even go to school because of the pain transferring causes. She stays at home with the baby while the other triplets enjoy kindergarten. In addition to her brain injury, Lily has Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and suspected Mitochondrial disease. The EDS frequently leads to joint dislocations, which happen while moving her. She suffers hundreds of seizures each day. Lily has so many medical needs that she has frequent medical appointments. Her brother and sister have Autism, and they also have frequent appointments, and more needs than most. Having a wheelchair van would change Lily's life. It would allow her to go to school , go to therapies, her Autistic siblings to go to therapies, have fun as a family, and play with other kids, just like her brother and sister do. Just as any 5 year old should. FB group https://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/340462979344018/.. Please help we are now on 4570 votes..
