Anyone enjoying Game of Thrones? or Boardwalk Empire when it was on?

Aylee -> RE: HBO SHOWS (4/19/2012 10:16:34 PM)

I have read the Game of Thrones series. I liked it well enough that I will buy the next in the series. I am not much of a TV watcher. I have contemplated buying the series on DVD for the other half.

Game of thrones is really well done. I just finished watching The Wire over the past couple of months, it lived up to the hype, remarkably.

The Borgias and Californication

I wasn't crazy about Boardwalk Empire, but starting watching it during Season 2. I have Season 1 of both shows on hold at the library. We're about to start Season 3 of Big Love.

My opinion is that HBO shows generally blow away network shows.

Oh my goodness, you are going to love it!

Game of Thrones is probably the best series HBO has done since Rome.

But don't they really want an arm, leg, and intimate body part for the home versions?

TNDommeK -> RE: HBO SHOWS (4/20/2012 7:26:20 PM)

Oh I forgot about Rome, I absolutely loved that series. I hate that it didn't return.

Bought Rome as soon as it came out with a complete series DVD. So well done. Watched all the extras to see how they had filmed it. Amazing stuff.

Also have all 4 seasons of The Tudors. Really like all the background information.

soul2share -> RE: HBO SHOWS (4/20/2012 7:44:25 PM)

The only thing I watched on HBO was True Blood. Personally, I like a few more Showtime programs that I don't think are on anymore...well, I know one isn't...it was Dead Like Me, and it just disappeared after 2 seasons. I did find it and the movie on dvd, and I watch it alot. Treatment w/Gabriel Byrne was good, what I saw of it. I don't have TV right now, way to expensive for my budget. I watch my dvd's.

I can't remember the last time I watched network shows......even when I had TV. I loved Two and a Half Men, and How I met your Mother was ok too, but those are in syndication, so it was the repeats.

TNDommeK -> RE: HBO SHOWS (4/20/2012 7:48:05 PM)

I wanted to see The Tudors and Spartacus. I'll probably end up getting the DVDs. I caught a few episodes of the Tudors on TV.

S2S, I like Two and a Half Men as well. It's too funny.

Privileged -> RE: HBO SHOWS (4/20/2012 11:33:52 PM)

I loved Boardwalk Empire and Life's too Short. I haven't seen Game of Thrones but, I want to get into it cause duh, dragons.

Lucylastic -> RE: HBO SHOWS (4/21/2012 1:14:42 AM)

Rome, one of my ultimate all time favourites I often dig out the episodes to watch again
Spartacus, is awesome. the third is as good as the first two and Im getting the three for my pets wife for her birthday. It wil be another all time fave.
Boardwalk is brilliant.
True Blood I got tuned into thanks to a couple of posters, enjoyed the hell out of it
The Tudors, simply gorgeous and from my favourite period in history (along with egyptian/roman/greek)
Game of Thrones satisfies my fantasy soul, altho I am enjoying the hell out of Once Upon a time too.
Altho this isnt an HBO show does anyone else here like Eureka?

TNDommeK -> RE: HBO SHOWS (4/21/2012 1:57:37 AM)

Never heard of Eureka, what is that about?

Lucylastic -> RE: HBO SHOWS (4/21/2012 2:15:00 AM)

http://www.tvrage.com/Eureka
For years, the government has been secretly relocating the world's geniuses (and their families) to the idyllic Pacific Northwest town of Eureka, where daily life straddles the line between unprecedented innovation and total chaos. When U.S. Marshal Jack Carter (Ferguson) wrecks his car and becomes stranded in Eureka, he quickly realizes that all is not what it seems. After the town's eccentric inhabitants unleash a brainchild with a catastrophic aftermath, Carter steps in to restore order and consequently is let in on one of our country's best-kept secrets.

Its on ScyFy, Just started season five, I really enjoyed it. In the last season they also had a tie in with a program called Warehouse 13.
Worth watching in my NSHO:)

That sounds pretty interesting, I might check it out. Thanks!

I have absolutely no fucking idea what you're talking about.

I'm only responding because you're hot.

kallisto -> RE: HBO SHOWS (4/21/2012 11:00:25 PM)

Love the Game of Thrones and Boardwalk Empire. I also loved the Tudors and True Blood ... I'm enjoying the Borgias as well.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: HBO SHOWS (4/21/2012 11:28:29 PM)

I cannot watch The Tudors, that era was a specialty back in the day, and that much messing with history makes me want to throw things. Californication on Showtime makes me laugh, the people are such monsters. I only get to see it during promotional weekends so it takes me awhile to catch up.

The only reason I don't like Walking Dead is that I don't like any of the characters. Really well done otherwise.
