ORIGINAL: graceadieu Some people do find that clothes or props can help them get in a headspace or "in the mood", yeah. I think that's pretty common. Edit: I don't think that changes you, though. That headspace is already in you somewhere, the prop or article of clothing or ritual or whatever just helps you to find it. This. Wearing or doing certain things can enhance some feelings/headspaces and make them "come out" more...but these are all things that were inside you already. So you've not actually "changed," just some aspects of you have been highlighted due to how the object of clothing or ritual makes you feel. For instance my collar and leash definitely make me feel "more submissive" in the sense that having them on brings my position of subservience to the forefront of my mind, thus giving me a sense of enhanced headspace catered towards pleasing, obeying, and serving my Master. These are things I always feel regardless, but being leashed up really puts those feelings as an intense conscious focus, if that makes any sense.
