Im a little stunned that someone can be so unkind.  I take the time to write a journal of my thoughts and feelings mostly for my own benifit - I find writing things alows me clarity of thought, and while I do not expect all to agree with my thoughts or understand my feelings I am completley stunned that someone can take the time to write such an email as I recieved - and have the ass to sign off with "Kind Regards"  I dont see any kindness there - only malice and nastyness. Should I remove my journal entries?

[Mod Note:  email removed.  Please do not paste mail into forum posts]

An open journal often makes people feel they have the right to comment, positively or negatively.  It will happen from time to time.  You simply have to decide whether to keep your journal public and accept that there are bozos out there that will do this, or take it private where no one but you can access it.

Idiots like this one should be blocked and deleted.

However, next time you decide to share an email, let's not share the idiot's name who sent it as well.  That's bad form.

I love the way the pompous little twerp says he's providing 'helpful commentary', as if he's doing you a huge favour, you lucky thing.

Jerks like this ooze around the net.  Just ignore the idiot - you've got a life, he doesn't.

It's entirely up to You to delete Your journal if You wish it.

As has already been pointed out, some people feel that a public journal is inviting nasty commentary. i also have a semi-public journal, though not on this site. If i ever get nasty comments/emails, i simply ignore them and move on.

This site has a great 'block' feature. You could always use that, if You don't want to remove the journal entries.

This is true, and unfortunately, many times the people who have comments that they are willing to share are the ones who have negative comments... the people who commissurate with us will often nod and agree silently...

To post on the internet, you need a thick skin. If you are going to be bothered by the negative commentary, and if you are posting for acceptance, it many be a tough ride to get what you need from journaling. If, on the other hand, you are journaling for yourself, sharing a part of your nature in the process, then it will be a good experience, the idiots like this will have little impact, and you'll find that you have individuals who read and follow what you write who -do- appreciate it.

Also... sharing names in a situation like this is against TOS and will get the thread pulled, so you may want to edit to remove the sender's name.

MadameMonique,

Apologies that You received such an unkind response to Your journal, but as replied, it does tend to happen from time to time with public journals. I have received several snarky, small-minded and judgemental replies to comments of Mine, (mostly on spirituality and politics, of course, despite the disclaimer to take no offense where none was intended.) There is no foreseeable shortage of the types who take offense and feel the need to share their dismay, so I'm not surprised when a note like that arrives. LOL

Don't ever take such claptrap to heart. Write for Yourself; write for Your feelings, and don't concern yourself with the lowly opinions of others who choose to hurt instead of share. Delete,
and ignore, if anything, IMO. If messages are harrassing, vulgar or threatening, report the user and block them.

Thanks guys, I have edited it to remove the senders name, however I think if you put something in writing you should be prepared to take ownership of those words - positive or otherwise.   I dont really wish to remove my journal - I guess I need to get thicker skin.

MM, I agree with feastie, and will add that anytime you post something for public viewing you also open yourself up to public scrutiny.  You really have to take the good with the bad.

And it is not only bad form, as feastie pointed out, to share the person's name, but also to copy n' paste an email in it's entirety, is against TOS, and you can expect to find it moderated.
Maybe ask yourself, how you would like it to come to the forums one day and find a private email you sent to someone pasted for anyone and everyone to see, included with your CM Id.

As for the message you received, delete and move on.

Everyone has their kink. His looks to be trying to tear others down in order to feel superior to them. If he gets a reaction, and manages to hurt his target, he has that much more stroke material.

Why give him the satisfaction of removing your journal because he wants you to retreat?

Some people are just assholes....and some just like to see what kind of response they get from you.
Delete and move on...............it's not worth your time or effort.

I have edited the orginal post to remove his name, however, I belive if I put something on paper (or email) then I take ownership of those words, beit positive or otherwise and I would not object to having my ID attached to them.  However what is TOS??  I dont know what that stands for .....

I haven't seen any bad advise here, so I'll just agree with the others as well as offer my sympathies.  I occasionally use the journal featue, and although I know others probably view it, it isn't something I really gave much thought to.  Mail and messages are direct and personal, someone has the right to reply to those.  Journals... eh.  Those replies I think I could just shrug off if they were negative.  It's not like you'd written a letter to this jerk bragging or anything.  So let them shove it where the sun don't shine, Hon.

Madame Monugue,

TOS means Terms of Service.  It's That box you check of when registering for the service.  You know the one you scroll, and scroll, and scroll, though.  Its the rules and regulation of the site.  You say if state the words take ownership.  rue, but we all know people lie on other people.  Not being allowed to state another member's user name is to protect those who could be falsely accused.

Don't take the crap personal. Say what's on your mind! Like one other person stated regarding this subject.  Most of us read profile and silently agree or disagree. Assholes are the ones who email the disagreements and assholes.

Keep writing!

From a previous thread it was suggested by a Mod that you can discuss highlights or lowlights of an email.  You basically just have to do it in a way that it is not verbatim.

Example:  Someone suggested that my journal is immature.

I am sure you can ask a Mod for specifics, or at least an example or explanation so that there are no questions.

From my understanding no, not quotes, I just try to avoid discussing emails I get, because to me it is just an email.  Like I suggested in a previous thread, it is faceless, voiceless, and really meaningless to me.  I do not give a rats patootie what someone thinks of my journal, my profile, or anything else online.

Anyway, maybe ask a Mod, or perhaps someone else has a better understanding than I, as far as, how much, or what form or fashion an email can be posted.

just remember why you journal and also understand that some people feel they are doing you a favour by writing mean or critical things that are not helpful.I am sure you do not need these people in your life so block them and allow the rest of us to continue to learn about your interesting journey so far

If you can't deal with any and all comments that are directed towards you because of the comments from your journal.  Then remove it.... and put it somewhere that it can remain private.

you may beable to choose the neighborhood you live in.... but you can't choose your neighbors.  If you don't like your neighbors you only have tw choices... ignore them and hope they move on.... or you move on.  It's really your choice no one elses.
