Maverick34 -> chains! (4/22/2012 12:08:16 PM)

Hello everyone! I have not experienced a lot of bondage but I was wondering if use of chains are as common as rope seems to be?

littlekitten1 -> RE: chains! (4/22/2012 12:19:49 PM)

I bet rope is way more convenient and cheap... I wouldn't know though ._. I like chains.

lizi -> RE: chains! (4/22/2012 12:23:12 PM)

We use chains more often than rope, they're cold though...shiver.

TNDommeK -> RE: chains! (4/22/2012 12:24:41 PM)

Littlekitten is right, it is cheaper but I'm sure there are people who use chains. I have several pair of shackles with chains attached. I also can use them on My st. Andrews, so I would assume that there are people that do use chains. I like the affect, and the decor.

littlekitten1 -> RE: chains! (4/22/2012 12:28:49 PM)

I prefer chains to rope as well..

But its my guess that most people start off with rope as it because its easier to get a hold of. I think later one Chains become more prevalent though... That's just my guess. because chains kind of come with all cuffs people buy and such.

I am definitely more interested in chains, that makes sense about the rope. Whatever Mistress wants is what she gets as well!

The toy bag gets really heavy with chains :)

It does, we keep them in a separate heavy duty tote box on wheels, lol.

Buzzzz -> RE: chains! (4/22/2012 1:40:08 PM)

Yeah, on wheels with a flatbed tow truck to pull it ;)

I personally think chains are less versatile. I have used chain but only ever on furniture construction when its bolted to the furniture, spanking benches crosses ect. Its preference I suppose.

strangedesire -> RE: chains! (4/22/2012 2:41:34 PM)

You need to buy cuffs to make good use of chain, so there's a higher barrier to entry. Rope is cheaper and more versatile, so for people who only care about the results of their bondage, rope makes more sense. Also, there are lots of people out there who fetishize rope specifically.

I've used chain but was never crazy about it. I think to be emotionally satisfying for me, it would need to be serious heavy stuff, and I can't justify the money or the backache.

Madame4a -> RE: chains! (4/22/2012 3:24:21 PM)

We use tons.. perhaps literally... of chain.. we have a lot of it. We don't, however, drag it around..its something we mostly use at home...

FirmlyTied -> RE: chains! (4/22/2012 3:37:28 PM)

I prefer to be in rope. Chain certainly has its place; including a visual appeal, the very weight of the material and sometimes the sounds of metal on metal. Good rope work is also visually appealing and for me at least I feel more restrained by snug rope than I do by more formidible chain. It really is a matter of preference; most of the time my preference is good rope, tied well by one who knows how.

Alecta -> RE: chains! (4/22/2012 3:43:42 PM)

Hm. When I think "bondage" I always default rope, because to me, "bondage" is a little more than just restricting movement, there is an aesthetic and tactile component too, and chain, while fun, isn't versatile enough to substitute for rope in bondage. Chain is, however, to me, superior to rope if it's simply about restraining someone.

SylvereApLeanan -> RE: chains! (4/22/2012 5:13:59 PM)

I vastly prefer chain. Chains are much easier to use and a lobster claw clip is faster to release in an emergency. I also like the psychological aspect of keeping someone shackled and bound in chains. The sound the make as they move gives me delicious shivers. I can't be bothered to learn rope tying for bondage when I can have chains.

My husband, OTOH, does shibari so he loves rope, the more colorful the better.

ResidentSadist -> RE: chains! (4/22/2012 5:16:48 PM)

By far rope > chains.

I use chains. I used to chain my girls to the wall at night. Off and on I have spent about 20 years using chain on a regular basis. You can see wear marks on the chains at the ends and surface is polished from skin oils and acids. Despite my taste for the chain, if you add up all my experiences since 1971, rope has been as often or more than chain.

Chain is not used as commonly used as rope and their are a multitude of purposes for rope.

DesFIP -> RE: chains! (4/22/2012 6:23:05 PM)

We prefer rope. He has some chain but usually I start to freeze immediately and that's not a good thing.

RaspberryLemon -> RE: chains! (4/22/2012 10:16:21 PM)

As others have said, rope is cheaper and more versatile.

That being said, I prefer the look and feel of chain. It holds a stronger connotation of "captured" or "restrained" than rope does, in my opinion--more "heavy duty," I guess. We like that. I do like rope as well, but we don't use it nearly as often.

The downside to chain, however, is that it's cold!!

another1harder -> RE: chains! (4/22/2012 10:41:29 PM)

Prefer rope for tying boobs. Have 4 foot long chains in the sex box. Useful for rope-chain-rope quick rope clips adjustments.

Kana -> RE: chains! (4/23/2012 9:31:50 AM)

We (meaning I) like chains.

1-They are heavy
2-They are cold
3-They make those lovely clanking sounds
4-They have serious dungeon connotations that linger in the subconscious
5-She's a tussler and has trouble sitting still during beatings. Rope stretches. Chains don't. So We(I) prefer chains for strict immobilization.

Course, grins, I did a scene a few days back using only dental floss-I think she's still in agony from that :-)
