ORIGINAL: LadyPact Yep, I play. It's great for the insomnia. Take the advice of joining a level 25 guild. It will help you hit level 85 faster. If you get your guild rep up to honored you can buy an heirloom cape and helm from the guild vendor. The helm adds 10% xp bonus and the cape adds 5% xp bonus. Also an heirloom ring from the fishing tournament rewards gives 5% xp. Heirloom ring: 5% xp bonus (Kalu'ak Fishing Derby reward) Heirloom Shoulders: 10% xp bonus (Justice points) Heirloom Chest: 10% xp bonus (Justice points) Fast Track 2: 10% xp bonus - Fast track 2 (lvl 6 guild perk) Heirloom Cape: 5% xp bonus (lvl 10 guild perk) Heirloom Helm: 10% xp bonus (lvl 20 guild perk) That's 50% bonus xp if you have a main that can spend JPs on heirlooms. Otherwise lvl 20 guild perk heirlooms can be bought from the vendor for gold. We're (everhope and I) on Sargeras server. What server are you on? Don't you need lots of rep with the guild to be able to get the XP bonus items with guild rep? So if you are a low level toon and just join the guild for example, what is the best way to grind up the rep - when can you reasonably expect to have enough rep to buy the heirloom items for the guild? Or did they lower that? Can you just go out and buy them with gold now, no guild rep at all? Akasha To answer all the questions in general MY LEVELING vs REP STRATEGY & GUIDE Unless you have never played before and want to enjoy all the quests & lore, I use this technique to "power level". lvl 1 -15 ... Speed quest only. Do not grind mobs or even loot kills unless for a quest item. They have worthless crap, not worth time to pick up trash for few copper. lvl 15 - 60 ... Dungeon finder (/LFD). You get loot reward bags from LFD with good enough gear (blues). Use wowhead.com to look up trinket or cloak quest rewards etc if you feel they are needed to supplement bag rewards. lvl 60 - 69 ... Dungeon finder & questing for gear only. No rep or leveling concerns as far as quests go. Use wowhead.com and their "socketed items" filter to find BIS (best in slot) lowbee 60s gear with sockets. Use those +20 WOTLK gems in the sockets and that gear will last into the 80s. lvl 70 - 79 ... Dungeon finder & questing while waiting in LFD queue only. Double duty quests for appropriate BIS gear, not rep. lvl 80 - 85 ... Dungeon finder & rep questing while waiting in LFD queue. Deepholm mandatory for shoulders. Zone of choice for head arcanum. lvl 85 ... whore yourself and your profession to make as much gold as you can. Buy/make lvl 378 gear. Don't bother with the 333/346/359 gear. Jump straight to the 378/397 ilvl gear so you can run heroics asap. I have a chart I can publish that tells what is best end game entry level gear. Ask me to post it if you need it. Using this strategy gets you into the minimum Dragon Soul raiding gear lvl as fast as possible. At the least, even without a guild, you can start using the LFR (looking for raid) and get your ilvl 384 gear. To answer your questions specifically REP LVL Lots of rep no - just honored for the heirlooms. REPPING UP Very hard to rep up with guild for lowbees. Lowbee quests don't give big points, I imagine it can take a very long time and you'll hit your 80s before you get the rep. I usually level alts in Dungeon Finder, stopping only to do all quests in Deepholm for the Therazane rep so I can get my end game shoulder inscription. I also double duty my questing when capping off my guild rep. I quest in the zone that gives me the end game head arcanum I need. Once you hit the Cata expansion patch in the 80s, you are in the big points brackets and rep comes fast. You should hit honored before you cap your toon. Making exalted is real easy doing high end quests while getting your head and shoulder chants. Don't forget to wear your guild tabard for rep bonus when cashing quest. COST Guild perk heirlooms only cost gold (head & cloak). They are at your guild vendor in the Visitor Center in major cities. Justice Point heirlooms (shoulders, chest, weapons & trinkets) come from the Justice Heirloom vendors in Stormwind & Orgrimmar. You can also buy honor heirlooms (shoulders, weapons & trinket) from Honor Heirloom vendors. BOAs Because all heirlooms, no matter their source, are Bind On Account, you can mail them to your alts on the same server . . . even crossfaction. Yes, your capped Horde toon can mail a full set of heirlooms and/or a guild tabard to your noob Alliance toon if it is on the same server. FYI, in the not too distant future, you will also be able to mail from server to server. REP TIPS: At friendly rep lvl with the guild, you can buy the Illustrious Guild Tabard which gives 50% guild rep bonus. Always put that tabbard on when cashing quests. At friendly rep lvl with the guild, you can buy the Banner of Cooperation (uncommon-green) and/or Standard of Unity (rare-blue) and/or Battle Standard of Coordination (epic - purple) giving 5%, 10% or 15% increases in experience, honor and reputation gain from killing monsters for all guild members that stay within 100 yards of the Battle Standard. Lasts 15 minutes. 10 minute cooldown. Buy all 3 banners if you can, you can rotate their placement and cooldowns. Works on proximity just like a BattleGound's banner. At honored rep lvl with the guild, you can buy the epic Renowned Guild Tabard which gives 100% guild rep bonus. Always put that tabbard on when cashing quests. GUILD CHOICE TIPS All guilds eventual reach lvl 25. There are guild lvl perks, like heirlooms that are nice, but there are somethings more important than just the lvl 25 guild perks. There are guild achievement perks. Items that require specific guild achievements to unlock. Things like capes that you can use to teleport to stormwind/orgrimmar allowing you to set your hearthstone to whatever area you are questing in. If your guild completes the Profit Sharing achievement, you can get a Guild Page or Guild Herald that lets you repair or vendor with him. Great for raids. Anyway, there are tons of perks that your guild has earn other than just reaching lvl 25. You will be able to summon a guild bank anywhere, teleport an entire raid, mass rez an entire raid, instant mail, raid food cauldron recipes, bonus items when crafting or gathering, skill up bonuses when leveling professions, world wide vendor discounts, extra mounts & companions and as mentioned originally . . .10% xp bonus just for being in the guild. Being in a good guild that has all the perks will will make far more than a 10% differences in your game play and enjoyment. Being able to transport, feed, repair or resurrect and entire raid are real nice perks. Guild choice is important. Hope this answers your questions, have fun and happy hunting!
