Lucifyre -> All this damnable editing (4/24/2012 7:33:02 PM)

I have noticed that I end up editing just about every single post I put out (yes I put out, shoosh that's not what I'm talking about here dammit...mind/gutter...anyway)
I just want to let everyone know that although yes I am sometimes harness and helmet type special, that I do it for the good of the community at large (NO we are NOT going back to that putting out thing again). My brain and fingers don't always seem to work at the same speed + my keyboard sucks a big fat one (ymmv, use your imagination) AND to Top that off (oh, my a top!) I try to be as articulate as I possibly can be because that's one of my many weaknesses (do I <really> have to explain myself here?) that I am trying very hard to improve.

Just sayin...

Lucifyre (would mispell my own damn name sometimes if I didn't fucking edit OKAY?!)

Liar liar, keyboard on fire! There is no evidence that you edited your post above, and
there isn't a single typo in your post, and you used proper punctuation to boot!

I think you are far too focussed on putting out, rather then actually putting out, which
makes your output rather off putting, if you know what I mean. [:)]

I know I'm not the only one who enjoys reading you. From the words of a very wise
(and very handsome) Dark Steven, "quit fretting".

I edited my post to show support. [:D]

Rule -> RE: All this damnable editing (4/24/2012 8:41:17 PM)

I edit lots of my posts; often a single letter or typo.

DesFIP -> RE: All this damnable editing (4/25/2012 10:37:03 AM)

I have gotten less obsessed about editing. Probably because once the edit post time times out, you just have to live with your typos. Personally I think the edit post limited time thing must have been designed by a sadist to frustrate us wordy types.

Lucifyre -> RE: All this damnable editing (4/25/2012 10:52:52 AM)

Thank you Poise ;) Never thought of being enjoyed that way <grin>

Des, I am sure you are correct...it was some damn sadist that knew they were going to drive us wonky when we didn't notice ntil HOURs later

I still blame my keyboard ;P

LaTigresse -> RE: All this damnable editing (4/25/2012 11:07:26 AM)

I actually feel bad for the people that worry so much about the exactness of their posts. I already know I am not an idiot, regardless of whether my posts would lead a person to believe otherwise. I just type from the hip (figuratively speaking) and let the reader suffer through the consequences.

That being said, I occasionally, after hitting the OK button, realize I left out a word or that, whatever shot from the hip, shit I came up with doesn't even make sense to me. On those cases I will go back and edit to try and clarify what the hell I meant. If indeed I even know what the hell I meant.

Aka........don't worry about it!

LadyHibiscus -> RE: All this damnable editing (4/25/2012 11:25:11 AM)

I type really fast. I think really fast, most of the time. Somehow, that combination doesn't get me in trouble. Hmmm...

ekaienoae -> RE: All this damnable editing (4/25/2012 11:33:38 AM)

LaTigresse is going to feel bad for me because I want to know more about using editing/posting options. DesFYP mentions edit post timeouts -so what is the time limit and how do I find out. Other posters use what seems like complex quoting boxes of prior posts, complete with 'ORIGNATOR:'. How is that done? The quote box in the Fast Reply tool bar didn't give me that result. Separately, trying to add smiley face icons and such just shows up as an http//: link. Maybe my browser (Opera) doesn't play well with CM. Opera was one of my hard limits.
I'm a bit of a perfectionist so I think editing is more about me than trying to look good for you...

If you want to edit a previous post of yours, simply find the post, then look in the upper
right hand corner for the word Edit, and make the changes you want.
I think the time frame is 30 minutes or so?

In order to quote someone in a reponse post, simply look to the top right of the
post you wish to quote, and click on the Quote button. It will transfer their post
into your text window. You can then either keep all of their quote, or narrow it
down to specific points.

I'm not familiar with Chrome, but the smileys appear using IE by clicking on one from the list on the left.
You may have to do a work around in chrome, which would be to find the url from the smiley you want,
or any image really, and inserting it between the [image]...[/image] tags. This can be done manually,
or by clicking Image in the tool area above your text window.

I hope these little tidbits have helped!

Do you use the Preview feature? I find this quite helpful, especially when there's a lot of formatting (although I do end up editing at times.)

TNDommeK -> RE: All this damnable editing (4/25/2012 1:10:56 PM)

Most of mine are jacked up. I always proof read before I click OK; making sure I have words spelled right. But mostly for capitalization and punctuation. I'm horrible about just typing and not inserting periods and such.

Edited to say: half the time I'm not even sure if My response is even corresponding with the OP, lol.

ChatteParfaitt -> RE: All this damnable editing (4/25/2012 1:18:22 PM)

I go out of my way to make minor errors in my posts so that people don't realize I am in actuality, perfect.

This is why I edit so many of my posts, not to make corrections but to insert errors.

I try not to use the edit button too often. My mistakes differ depending on which device I am using. I can type faster on the touch screen of my tablet, but because the keys are so small, I tend to make more mistakes, which are more often than not corrected before I hit the post button, simply because I am more aware of their existence.
