Oh dear. It seems an official of the Obama Administration has been caught telling the truth about their philosophy. Random crucifixions, as an official policy. The environmentalist who originally posted the video is currently scrambling to make it go away, but you can watch the clip at the link.

Since the statement is from 2010, and since cases brought by this guy's office are currently being thrown out of court for a lack of evidence, it's clear this wasn't merely rhetoric. Note also that he says he is repeating an analogy he used in meetings, so it's easy to wonder just how high a level such policies of random fear and intimidation were approved from. Watch the President talking about "punishing domestic enemies," and you can take a guess. Of course, the EPA is doing a bit of scrambling now, to characterize him as a rogue.

It reminds me a bit of my asshole uncle, who retired from the LAPD, and the methods he used to brag about using to keep the longhairs, (n-word)s and (s-word)s from feeling like they had any business in Van Nuys. Pull them over on sight, and bust a tail light before you ever even get to the driver's window.

Yeah, well, the thing is that it is typical mischaracterization of what he said.

Now, there is every chance that the judges throwing out for lack of evidence...(we dont know that ratio ) were installed by W and are ratpoison republicans.

But what he said was, like the crucifictions used to make an example, find companies in clear violation of the law and make examples out of them, throw the book at them and that would be the best use of the limited funding and personnel and should serve as a warning and a call to clean up your act to the other scofflaws.

I think the rest of the sky is falling and everyone running around like chickens with their heads cut off unciteable bullshit is idiotlogical, typical teabagging.

DomKen -> RE: The Environmental Crucifixion Agency (4/28/2012 8:03:22 AM)

Yeah let's end all regulation on the oil and gas industry. What could possibly go wrong?

Mupainurpleasure -> RE: The Environmental Crucifixion Agency (4/28/2012 8:16:13 AM)

oil and gas industry dont need regulation. Chevron amazon Thats what american companies do today when unregulated. Nigeria is a toxic dump because of unregulated oil production. He is one offical not an organization. Can you point to some wrongful epa actions. I just know before the EPA a river in Cleveland caught on fore and no life other than worms was present in many rivers in the east

frankly we are talking about his work in TX and I think he was being honest. When near evryone is a law breaker you set examples as to change wide spread behavior. In other statesits a few s violaters in TX it's state condoned disreguard for the lawTexas toxic r us behavior

And there we have it. Did that response come in an email from the "Truth Team," Owner59, or are you striking out on your own again? I ask, because that ain't the response coming from DC...

quote:

Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lisa Jackson distanced herself Friday from comments by a top agency official who told a Texas community two years ago that his approach to enforcement was to make an example of polluters the way Romans crucified people to quash rebellions
...
“Frankly, [the comments] were inflammatory but also wrong,” Jackson said Friday when asked about a YouTube video discovered this week by Oklahoma Republican Sen. James M. Inhofe’s staff. “They don’t comport with either this administration’s policy on energy, our policy at EPA on environmental enforcement, nor do they comport with our record as well.”

mnottertail -> RE: The Environmental Crucifixion Agency (4/28/2012 9:24:39 AM)

So, political correctness is not going to go out the window in a political bitchfest.

We are not amazed.

OK Heritic, I got a deal for you:
You spend one month living in Lanzhou, China, and I will wholeheartedly support whatever position you have on the EPA afterwards...

DomKen -> RE: The Environmental Crucifixion Agency (4/28/2012 11:10:59 AM)

Why shouldn't polluters be prosecuted for what their crimes really are, murder?

You'd probably support the position I have on the EPA now, Softbonds. The difference is that you are also apparently perfectly happy to turn a blind eye on power mad little fascistic freaks, as long as they are from your side.

So, what is your position, Heretic?

For you, Erie, the answer is, it shouldn't be operated with a philosophy of tyranny and oppression. Why should I type, when you don't read?

I do read. I apologize if I have missed your entire position on the EPA. Sometimes I do not have the time to read every single word that people post, but I do have the time today. And I am interested. I am making an effort here. If you want to leave it "shouldn't be operated with a philosophy of tyranny and oppression" so be it...I firmly believe there should be more to it than that. What would your solutions be? How would you fix it? Many conservatives would like to see the EPA disbanded. A while back I posted some pictures of environmental problems that had been cleaned because of the EPA, I'd certainly not want to go back to those days.

Rich, do you know what percentage of cases are being dismissed? I did some Googling, but struck out, alas.
