Slipstreme -> Anal Retentive? :P (6/5/2006 11:24:18 AM)

This was sparked from the Ask a submissive/slave board topic "Hiding Daddy's Belt" where a couple of subs mentioned that their Doms kept their stuff in certain places where the absense of would be noticed immediately.

I've found that I tend to be rather anal about how my implements of pain are displayed in the house and about where I keep them. My parents visited last weekend, and as such I stashed everything in the closet so as not to make them a tad uncomfortable while they were here. Well, I'm heading to PA in about 10 days and bringing most of my stuff with me. As such I can't put it back up only to take it all down again, but I find it a tad odd for those items not to be there.

Has anyone else here had that kind of compulsion where everything had to be in its proper place, but found themselves prevented from doing so? If so, would you mind sharing?

Remember this is just a for fun post. I don't want to see this explode into a discussion about OCD and the like, or flames over what is what. Let's save that for the professionals. :P

Hope you all enjoy this one.

It's a very common thing for people to have.  We all have our quirks and a lot of us are spatially oriented and focused.  We have a "place" for things, either through ritual, routine or just the closest place to the door to conveniently put them.

And since you said you wanted to avoid OCD discussion, I won't bring up those facets of things, just to say that we're all on the spectrum, just at different places.

lisa1978 -> RE: Anal Retentive? :P (6/5/2006 11:39:33 AM)

We are all creatures of habits and everyone has their quirks to a certain degree. Just look at it as being efficient. Why take the time to put them back up if you are going to have to take them right back down. :)

As a person who can admit I am very anal retentive, I know what you are feeling. To me, something like this would be for me not to get my brain from racing when it happens again. Things were put in the closet and you dealt with that. Still not comfortable with it but not a problem either.

i too am a creature of habit so no it doesn't suprise me.  Don't ya just feel ya gotta get them back until right before ya leave?

fun2getspanked -> RE: Anal Retentive? :P (6/5/2006 11:59:56 AM)

I was in a D/D relationship where many times, nothing was said about my behavior, he would just pull out a straight backed chair. I would walk into the living room and see it out, yikes! A couple of times I woke up in the morning and it was in the bedroom, at the foot of the bed :(
I knew EXACTLY what was going to happen, no words need be said.

This doesn't apply to just toys: everything in my house has a place. This doesn't mean that I don't have piles of stuff laying around though. I get piles because I have items that I just haven't figured out where they go. Since I haven't figured it out, I don't know what to do with them, thus, they get stacked in piles. But, about once a month I get tired of the gathering clutter (which really isn't much to most people) and I clean. Most of what's in the piles gets thrown away. ;-)

Fire - slightly OCD? Who knows.

I would like a sub with OCD. My house is always in disarray and could use a consistent good helping of having "a place for everything and everything in it's place".

Mine also!

Trust me, no you wouldn't.

In fact, many OCD's are not compulsively neat or organized at all.  There are many facets of life in which OCD can afflict a person.

Here here! I tend to not clean or organize because even though I like doing it (my OCD nature makes me want things to be neat, organized, and perfect), I take forever to do it because I have to make it perfect! I'm the type of person that would need to spend all day cleaning, but things would be very clean.

Uh and to stay on topic...[;)]...I'd like to have a regular place to put my toys. I did when I was living in North Carolina temporarily. Since I'm back in post-Katrina southeastern Louisiana I just keep all of my stuff in the trunk of my car until I find a place to settle. I do have a certain organization within my toybag, though. For example, I use small fishing tackle boxes to store things like clamps and claws.

LOL I was going to say the same thing, minus wanting a submissive with OCD. Between school, work, and my general disregard for order ( actually most will say that I am just so forgetful that I forget [&:] ), nothing is ever in it's place in my house.

missturbation -> RE: Anal Retentive? :P (6/5/2006 5:09:08 PM)

I'm a naturally untidy person - everything has its place but i usually haven't got a clue where that is!
However the few toys i have are all in their own place on display at all times. I like them being there where i can see them and be reminded of what they do for me. I am def anally retentive about this!!

Sensualips -> RE: Anal Retentive? :P (6/5/2006 7:18:37 PM)

I am careless, sloppy, and "free spirited."  One of partners has OCDC tendencies and is hypersensitive to having things a certain way and in a certain place.  It makes for some interesting struggles.

lol I read this and nodded the entire time, I'm very much the same.  It's definitely common in Fire signs, not 100% sure that's what you meant by fire, could've been your standard closing for your post, but I figured I'd comment for any other Fire signs out there [:D]

MasterFireMaam -> RE: Anal Retentive? :P (6/6/2006 8:20:04 AM)

Yeah, me too. It's actually one of the things I miss about my ex husband. He was a compulsive cleaner. I keep the house clean and decent, but with him around, you could eat off the floor...any floor. He was also compulsive about yard work. But, a clean house and a mowed lawn does not a marriage make.

True enough, that is how everything else is in the house. [:D] Of course, I once looked at it this way: I have my piles. I know what is in my piles and where they are. And when I got around to cleaning them, things would start to disappear?!! Although I do occassionally find money when I clean, so that is always nice. Although, as much as I would like for someone else to clean it, I have this tendancy to be extremely possessive about my stuff, irregardless of what it is, and tend not to let anyone near it without express permission.
