Regarding the Minutemen, they pretty much shut down operations a couple of years ago. This article is from March, 2010: http://azstarnet.com/news/blogs/border-boletin/border-bolet-n-minuteman-corps-splinters-for-the-last-time/article_deb8d7b2-36da-11df-b3ad-001cc4c03286.html The cited reasons were a lack of money, mismanagement, waning interest, and worries of attracting the wrong kind of people to the group (such as Ready and Forde). Forde was part of some splinter group called "Minutemen American Defense," while the main "Minuteman" group was called the "Minuteman Civil Defense Corps." There was also another group headed by Glenn Spencer called "American Border Patrol." I also remember another group called "Ranch Rescue," operating in both Arizona and Texas, but they also bit the dust several years back when their leader was arrested. I think they were also facing a hefty lawsuit over civil rights violations. This sort of stuff has been going on for as long as I can remember. Even back in the 1980s, there was a group called the "Civilian Materiel Assistance." They were arrested, too, although I can't remember what happened to them all. It's hard to keep all these groups straight and who the players are. As I recall, both Ready and Forde wanted to take on the drug cartels, but considering what ended up happening with both of them, the drug cartels are probably laughing their asses off (at least during the lulls in their own firefights). Of course, the cartels are just as crazy. Maybe they can have the crazies on both sides of the border just meet each other in some neutral spot and have it out, so they can leave the innocents out of it.
