Why do you only relate this kind of political view to Christians? Islam is much more intolerant to women. That is why you have all these honour killings in western societies.

1. This board doesn't only relate this kind of political view to Christians. In this very thread, the activities of the Taliban are decried. Please pay attention.

2. The reason that Far Right Christians are more worrisome to many posters, myself included, is that they, not the taliban, are at his moment attempting to remake the government of this great country in their own narrow image.

straight up

So what about Hannity? How come his listeners aren't objecting? This guy has been on Hannity, which I would have thought a lot of conservatives watch. He isn't some nobody.

My real point of posting this is, why aren't mainstream Christians speaking out against this guy? If he truly doesn't represent christian views, why aren't they decrying his hatefulness from every pulpit?

My guess would be that most of them have never heard of Peterson. And if you told them about him, some of them would think you were pulling their leg.

K.

It's a fairly easy answer. They, like those that listen to Rush....are listening to....wait...here it comes....Hannity.

Ergo, sum.

Horrifying as the photo is, its relevance to the thread is not clear to me.

Once again a variant on the classic "false equivilency" argument - in this case - "our Christians fundamentalists aren't that bad because they don't commit exactly the same acts as Islamic fundamentalists".

A) Jesus Christ had a moustache
b) Adolph Hitler had a moustache
c) Followers of the teachings of Jesus Christ are called "Christians"
d) Followers of the teachings of Adolph Hitler are called "Nazis"
Therefore Christians and Nazis are the same.

(Anymore).

When have you been insisting that your country stays in Afghanistan to stop the taliban carrying on as before the second you leave, then?

I'm sorry, we're you attempting to make a point using a cleft brain?

It is (more intolerant).

It isn't (when compared to history).

I'm a Christian, have been since my late teens (so I made this decision as an adult).

What I see going on today (in Christianity), scares the fuck out of me.

So does the Muslim faith and its actions, but frankly, I'm not informed enough to fully comment on that one...I am on the other.

Although, to be completely forthcoming, I love Christianity....I wouldn't trust a Christian as far as I could throw one.

As to Muslims....I wouldn't trust them, and from what little I know of their book and faith....I don't care for (or trust) it either.

It's funny you compare the ultras in the Republican Party with the Taleban. There are no Bachmans or Palins in the Taleban, that is for sure.

A related question, Sean Hannity is not my cup of tea, but he is well known and respected by many. Why aren't his listeners demanding that he cease his close association with this guy's group?
Unless this is the way conservative Christians really feel

I'm neither a Christian nor a listener to Hannity, but I can see how it might be more strategic to downplay or ignore those who come across as fringe. Every faction seems to have its share of Froot Loops, but none of them like to admit it. Sometimes, going on the defensive or doing damage control might actually make things worse than just letting it pass unaddressed, especially since this preacher doesn't seem to have much of a following. (I never heard of this guy either.)

I didn't Compare Christians to the Taliban. Possibly you should reread the post only with comprehension this time.

I said that their (the Taliban's) practices are decried (look the word up if you have to) here and you should pay better attention before you post.

I also said that what you call the ultras of the party are the ones who are attempting to remake this country into as theocracy against the plainly stated wishes of the founding fathers.

The Taliban are not doing that here. They're just trying to kill people.

As for your statement that the Taliban has no Bachmans or Palins, maybe it's because the aforementioned 2 people are fucking STUPID and they're picky.

The previous sentence IS comparing the Taliban to Far Right Christians.[:D]
