Hillwilliam -> Dual Citizenship and National Office (5/9/2012 9:08:33 AM)

Should someone who obtains dual citizenship later in life be allowed to hold a high national office? Could they possibly be holding the interests of the US above all others?

YSG -> RE: Dual Citizenship and National Office (5/9/2012 9:14:22 AM)

I say it'll take about 3 weeks after she moves there for the Swiss to send her back.

LOL, well, she cant be president.....oh, nevermind, she can't be president.

I dunno, Ron. Could she? She is a natural born citizen of appropriate age. I mean, someone would have to loan her a brain but I see nothing in the Constitution that says she couldn't run again. Was Romney's dad a dual US/Mexican citizen due to his place of birth? He ran in '68. I see his situation as different as he was born that way and didn't actually apply for it as Bachman did.

DarkSteven -> RE: Dual Citizenship and National Office (5/9/2012 10:23:44 AM)

I was kinda surprised to see this after she snarked about liberals being un-American.

Natural born on WHAT PLANET?

ummm.. maybe she knows something many Americans dont.. the writing on the wall, perhaps??? No,.. no. she said it was fer the chocolate.. yeah... thats it..

When I move I am considering getting a second citizenship also.. I havent decided exactly which yet.. have to look at the cost, the pros and cons and requirements of the most suitable ones.. My mother had German (by birth) and Canadian citizenship, but it didnt make her any less Canadian.. so I personally see nothing wrong with it.. but then I am also not in politics so..

If you want to move out of the US and not be required to still file a tax return with the IRS and pay tax in a country you no longer live in, the only way to do that is to get citizenship in another country and give up your US citizenship.. Maybe her and her hubby are planning to one day move permanently outside the US and do that.. I dont know why else she would want to do that.. I guess if that is her true reason, does that make her un-American or is it the American way (to find ways to pay less tax)?..

If she has a dual citizenship, she hasn't renounced her American citizenship, and so could run again, unfortunately.
It is only if somebody's had to renounce their citizenship to get a new passport that this becomes an issue is it not?
(At least if we're talking about a legal right to run for office, rather than looking like a two faced lying piece of shit, which latter she's done a good job with...)

Hillwilliam -> RE: Dual Citizenship and National Office (5/11/2012 10:16:44 AM)

I'm surprised at the lack of outrage from those on the Right. I mean here is someone who sits on the House Intelligence Committee who no longer owes the US her undivided allegiance.

mnottertail -> RE: Dual Citizenship and National Office (5/11/2012 10:17:37 AM)

Well, they are running a Mexican for president after all.

Oh, no question. Particularly given all of the whining and moaning about hypothetical and apparently spurious Kenyanism we've heard from that same party over the last four or five years.
Maybe it isn't an issue because she's whiter than a photophobic polar bear with a peroxide habit?

Ron... Any luck finding out what the compensation rate is for foster care in Switzerland? It'll help us figure out if she's financially preparing for another run in 2016. I mean unless somebody throws a bucket of water on her and she melts, she should look close enough to human female, that she could do the primaries one more time.

Yeah, she probably knows that the Swiss pay foster parents more and she's only another 27 kids away from the next Iowa Caucus.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Dual Citizenship and National Office (5/11/2012 1:27:24 PM)

Since the US does not recognize dual citiaenship, what's the point of all this? Even expats ate subject to US tqx law, though there are systems in place to minimize/eliminate double taxation.

LOL It means nothing now since she just gave up her Swiss citizenship (which apparently she has had since 1978)..

mnottertail -> RE: Dual Citizenship and National Office (5/11/2012 1:57:29 PM)

She hasnt had it since, she has been eligible for it since.......

The birther asswipe she ran for awhile, and the welfare schtick she ran for awhile (until it was revealed she was a large recipient) and the communists or whatever in the congress she ran for awhile...................it was payback.  They told her go over in the corner by your dish and lay down, and she did.

MasterSlaveLA -> RE: Dual Citizenship and National Office (5/11/2012 2:30:52 PM)

She's obviously got a CHEESE fetish... think about it... WISCONSIN... and now SWISS?!! [8D]

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Dual Citizenship and National Office (5/11/2012 2:32:38 PM)

What does that mean in nonhater-language? I know she's a jerk.
