By a clear margin of 57/43 President Obama has won the West Virginia Democrat primary.

Link to Businessweek article

Oh yeah. The guy with 42.7something percent of the vote? He's an incarcerated felon, doing federal time in Texas.

Little problem with the base, you think?

It's a coal state. This is not a coal-friendly administration.

All politics is local.

Rich,

Yeah, it was a decisive victory.

The felon got like 72000 votes narrowly nudged out by Willard with 77000 votes.

Obama had a 100+k votes.   So, two thirds of the total cast for the assclowns.

I wouldn't call that indecisive.  Unless you have a dictionary definition I ain't seen yet.

What happened Ron? Did Rich find the clues to something damning about Obama in an old "Flipper" episode?

Why yes, Ron, West Virginia did have much higher turnout for the Democrat ballot, than on the Republican. Romney's count amounted to 69% of the vote on that side.

Did you have a point you wanted to make, or did you just want to fling up a cloud of fertilizer for the President to hide behind?

No, just calling you on horseshit as usual.   I dont want to brow beat you but your version and dictionary versions of words are at odds.  I believe he used the dictionary version of the word decisive, (as in even with the rushfelchers and backlash coming in show, even with Willard the Wonder Wizard coming in place) he finished first by a better than so the winner of the teabagging assclowns wasnt close nor was the sour grapes guy.

So, he said it loud and clear, I said it loud and clear, it may be that your vision is murky in some way cuz had that been willard took those numbers you would have spun this counter-clockwise..........now, frankly there isnt much of a 'larger issue' as you guys like to call your hysterical buncombe here.

You tried to stir some shit, and it is about as meaningful as fucking a woman whos just given birth.....you're throwing a hotdog down a hallway Rich.

I guess this is slightly bigger than Willard and the dog carrier, but not by much.

No, Ron, I tossed out a bit of news that struck me as funnier than hell, and you ain't able to laugh at it.

That's funny to me, too.

I've commented on Romney's problems getting a portion of the Repub base behind him in the past, and I'm sure I will again, but this one is strictly President Obama's problem.

Off to work, have a nice day.

Rich, think of me as Oscar Wilde.  My sense of humor is very dry.   I am bemused at the entire clownshow.  But that is where it ends.

Not a problem for Obama it is a distraction for the neocons and teabaggers to take the sting out of their upcoming loss.

You mean the guy? Or his filing? He apparently CAN'T hasn't ever had the money in his prison account and in fact has to pay a bunch of restitution. They apparently had someone ferrying all the paperwork back and forth and this guy has no connection to West Va.
The good thing is that guys in prison are extremely unreliable confederates and he's likely to dime out Rove or whomever concocted this whole thing.
But what the hell ... this is what the dumbest fucking republicans in the party will think of as "red meat".
Check this guy's bio out though... It's PREPOSTEROUS... Nope .. this guy's got help from a dickhead like Rove. And AT BEST (since every democrat I have seen is laughing him off like an snl Skit), it's probably fashioned to affect the republican teeny cortex in some way as to bolster turnout.
Read his profile and tell me the odds that this guy, who's on the ballot in ONE state calculated even the selection of the state to run in.

I meant the whole situation: some dude (about whom I confess I know nothing) in prison scoring such a big chunk of the vote.

I'm reminded a little of Eugene Debs's winning nearly a million votes in the 1920 election while a prisoner due to his violations of the Espionage Act, but I don't know enough about either man to gauge how apt the comparison is.

LOL What i find much more interesting is that the feds have just approved China's first US bank takeover.. the first of many, I expect.. Americans are so busy sweating the small stuff (like this) that they dont seem to even see the big stuff going on around them.. oh well..

It's a protest vote, DC. I doubt very many of the voters in the Democrat primary had any idea who this guy was, and simply voted, "anybody but Obama." It's a coal state, as Muse pointed out. I'm sure racism had a role to play, as well, but since we are talking about Democrat voters, some might prefer to just steer clear of that aspect.

It's an awfully high percentage of protest votes, though.

SternSkipper, I'm concerned that if you keeping reaching into where you are reaching into to pull out your "uber-connected insider information," you are going to wind up with a serious infection. Thanks for the conspiracy theory, all the same. I always enjoy a good laugh with my Saturday morning coffee.

I doubt that the numbers of democrats launching a protest vote were much above zero.

The protest vote for a democrat at this point is stay home.

Nobody is sending any signals or indicating subtle communications by tilting their head in such a way you should have caught on here........

Nonsense, Ron. Why would you even make such a claim? Whether you prefer to see it reflected in the Tea Party, or the Occupists, we are in a period of increased political activism. Dissatisfied voters aren't sitting home in sullen obedience these days. They want to be heard.

Too, you are making an assumption that the Presidential checkbox is the only thing to bring voters to the polls. I'm far too lazy to pull up a West Virginia sample ballot, but I bet there were plenty of local matters up before the people as well.

42.73%, according to the WV SOS, refused to put a rubber stamp on President Obama. (Notice how that number gets shaved a bit in the news?) That may produce a decisive victory for the guy with the other 57 and change%, but it still amounts to one hell of a protest vote.
