Are you talking about the Chase lossing $2 Billion in what appears to have been caused by Chase high ranking excutives making bad investments with the investore money?

I'm talking about how Chase gave donations to certain elected officials to water down the regulations after WS crashed. This includes members of both parties

fargle's right, corporations aren't people, therefore, they shouldn't have to pay taxes, or pay silly things like benefits to it's employees who do pay taxes. Just imagine how well the economy will do without the sword of government regulations, and taxes hanging over a corporation's head... Just imagine how much tax revenue the government won't have for social programs! Goody goody! Unions, gone! Child labor laws, gone! Fuck pollution, and air, and clean water, corporations aren't PEOPLE, therefore they shouldn't have to CARE about rules and regulations... Right farg ol buddy?

You're correct here--we need unions, child labor laws, rules and regulations for exactly the reasons you cite. Without them, corporations historically don't care about pollution, air, clean water -- or people.

As far as corporate taxation goes, punitive import duties on allegedly American companies that have shifted all of their manufacturing out of the country would be a good place to start. Maybe some kind of VAT that sticks said companies with the difference in manufacturing costs as well. They'd probably try to get around both by sticking the consumer with the mark ups, but if that hiked the price over domestically produced alternatives, it'd still work wonders...

Why would it be reasonable to tax them a third time, when securities are simply transference of ownership of production/financial obligation, not sales of new goods?

California is the prime example of what happens to a state burdened with public sector union contracts.

What the hell does federal inefficiency have to do with your unwillingness to pay taxes? Let's be honest here, you could have the most effective government management on the face of the earth and you'd still be horrified at the notion of paying a 70% tax rate, so spare us the blather about inefficiency, eh?
