Interesting quote, Aylee. Thanks! I've never tried Heinlein. Does one need to be a sci-fi buff to enjoy him?

Not really. most of his good stuff is about folks being folks although in unusual environments.

Stranger in a Strange Land was written in the late 50's but its reads like a satire of the RR and Reagan, down to "Nancy" consulting an astrologer.

Moon is a Harch Mistress is a how to manual for a libertarian revolution, with odd polygamous marriages and practical joker computers just to keep you from getting bored.

No. Try the juveniles first. The Star Beast, Have Spacesuit -- Will Travel, Sixth Column, Space Cadet.

Or you can try some of the short stories. "If This Goes On -" is one that you might like. Kind of interesting since the crux of the story is Nehemiah Scudder's election in 2012. "Waldo," is also a favorite of mine.

I really just thought that it would be fun to throw another quote out there. Woodrow Wilson Smith a.k.a Lazarus Long a.k.a Captain Shefield a.k.a. I have no idea how many others, was named after the President in the stories.

The party which defaults to, 'more government,' being the answer to every problem?

Sorry - but the American Political Party that defaults to "more government" is the Republican Party.

More laws, and more government to enforce those laws, to control citizens' private lives. Just one example: "I Want the Government in My Vagina"

The Republican Party - "Let's get government out of the corporate boardroom - and into people's bedrooms instead".
