Can only help but to think that the country must be going in a somewhat better (i use the word loosely) direction if one of the bigger things there are to worry about is gay marriage.

Welcome back BTW ... Anyway, The article this thread is based on mentions Emmett Burns. Any idea who he is or how significant he is as an influence over voters in Baltimore?

"While some African-American pastors took to the pulpit Sunday to support the president, others were critical. One religious leader, Emmett Burns of Baltimore, supported Obama in 2008 but has now pulled his support."

Any feedback you might have heard about locally might help.

Well, logically speaking, I've found some religious people in higher places, such as a pastor, will only want to be associated with those who support their views.

"Hey, Obama supports gay marriage. I supported Obama, so in turn, I must support gay marriage. Oh no, we can't have that!"

As for Rev. Burns, i have not heard much about him before him, as he is not what would be called, "prominent" in the Black, Christian community (BCC- unofficially), since he does not preach at a place that would be considered a powerhouse church here, despite him being locate quite near where i attend church

I won't mention where I attend worship out of respect for my church leader, but he mentioned him in a podcast yesterday (midweek worship), and from his, as well as most ministers in the BCC here that they will just pray about the situation, but not withdraw their support.

Reason being due to voting for obama based on his political platform and policies, rather than what his religious views are.

hope that was of some help.
