looking for a girl to help teach a sissy how to apply make up on long island

Soyokaze -> RE: looking for a girl to help teach makeup to sissy (5/17/2012 6:14:44 AM)

I can't come help you directly, but some stuff I've personally used for help.

Helpful video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5elP3JTd7hE&feature=relmfu she has other useful videos
http://realtechniques.com/ They have a bunch of instructional videos. Their brushes are pretty cheap and I like them too (mainly stippling/powder/blush and the eye set).

Personally, I used the covergirl site to try to get shades that matched each other and foundation that matched my skin, but I'm not 100% sure I got it right. Most of my makeup is covergirl as a result. I tried going into a sallies one time for help with matching a foundation to my skin, but they said they couldn't help me and just pointed me at the makeup : (

You might want to go to Rupauls Drag U for that!

So I don't know if this will help, but here is my "process" for putting on my makeup - maybe it will help. :)

1. I wash my face - this can vary depending on how much time I have from full on washing with a good face wash and water in the shower to grabbing a baby wipe (always at my makeup table) and wiping my face down.

2. I shave - either with a blade in the shower, or with my electric and then follow it up with one of those super close shaving coochy shavers that they sell to women.

3. Foundation - I apply a very light coat of liquid foundation in my skin tone all over down to below the neckline. I dot it on and rub it in with my fingers. For me, I don't need a heavy foundation as my shaving gets my beard down enough that the foundation covers all.

4. Powder - a good color complementing face powder applied with a pad. Again, a little goes a long way. This is an evener and knocks down any remaining shine on your face.

5. Brush and Blend - I take one of those fat makeup brushes and smooth it all over my face making sure I don't have any lines or heavy areas from either foundation or powder.

6. Blush - I use a medium brush to apply blusher to the underside and top of my cheekbones. I suck my cheeks in slightly for this. I brush it upward towards my temple. I use my wall mirror for this as it is easy to get too much and look like a cupie doll or a rash victim. Again I will use my big brush to blend it out.

6. Eyebrows next - I use a brown eyeliner and run it through my eyebrows to shape them, and to hide the gray hairs - it works great and tames them down a bit.

7. Eyeliner - Black, brown, violet, white - depending on the occasion I apply one of these colors of eyeliner. I use the pencil types that twist out. I apply it to the inside edge of my eye under the lashes on the top, over the lashes on the bottom. This is supposed to be a no-no...I dunno...it works well for me and I have never had much eye irritation from it. On the bottom, I will go about halfway across the lower lid from the outside blending it inward so you don't have a defined line, and how dark depends on the style and the time of day - heavier makeup at night, lighter during the day. I will sometimes use the white eyeliner across the bottom lid to make my eyes look larger - it's a neat trick! :)

8. Eyeshadow - I always begin by using a small brush (not the one that comes with the eyeshadow) and applying a light color directly under my brows and sweeping it down just past the crease. Then I usually take a medium color in the same family and brush it over the top of the lid and into the crease. Then a darker shade goes directly in at the edge of the lid. Again, how heavy or bright depends on event and time of day. I do not put any shadow under the eyes at all. Not age appropriate for me, though I see younger girls doing it some at the outside edges.

9. Mascara - Most bio-boys have beautiful lashes. This is because testosterone builds stronger bolder hair and this is about the only area where that is a benefit! I use black or brown mascara just a swipe or two being careful to not poke your eye as that hurts. I barely hit the bottom lashes, just enough to get them to stand out.

10. Lips - I like the staining lipsticks. If I am going to be wearing makeup, it is going to be for at least 12 hours and those last about that long. I have thin lips, so I run the color lightly past the edges of my lips and blend into them a bit with a separate lip brush so the line of the lips are soft. Blot with a tissue, and apply a lip gloss over. Or sometimes I will just use a tinted lip gloss. I hate tubed lipsticks and it has to either taste neutral or fruity. Nothing with sunscreen in it - YUK! I don't do a lot with lip liner pencils as the wand of most liquid lip colors works just as well with a little practice.

NOTES - I have a hairband that I wear to sweep my hair out of the way while I do my makeup. I only carry lip gloss and powder in my purse as that is all I should need to freshen over the course of a day or evening. I tend to get dressed before I do my makeup and put a towel in my lap while I am working to catch any stray liquid or powder so I don't get it on my clothes. Jewelry and then final hair styling comes next. If I am curling my hair, I do it before I do my makeup and just leave the curls untouched until I am ready to style.

If you go here:

http://www.covergirl.com/makeup-match

You will find a basic skin tone matching for foundation and if you get a reasonable light next to your screen you can compare the underside of your wrist (provided that it is not more tan than your face is) to the options on the screen to find the color that matches your skin.

I hope that helps! :)

Cosmeticians make a living doing this. OP, you're expecting a total stranger to do this for free. Why not call your local day spa, and explain your needs. Make an appointment and get the help you require. If you would prefer doing this in a private room, I'm sure they can accommodate you.

Apply to a beauty school to become a make up artist.

On the upside, you might have a new career.

Salinedion -> RE: looking for a girl to help teach makeup to sissy (5/25/2012 1:05:13 PM)

You gotta pay. And from what I hear, a lot. There was a Long Island woman at TESfest who does this as a biz, and you should consider going. Lots of sissy's were getting their ass's beat for free there, but what they call a consultation takes $$$$.

skecok -> RE: looking for a girl to help teach makeup to sissy (5/26/2012 5:29:19 AM)

Salinedion -> RE: looking for a girl to help teach makeup to sissy (5/26/2012 6:26:09 AM)

TES Fest -google, blah, blah, blah. Happening over the 4th of July, maybe an hour or two away from you. 'Get's a nice sissy crowd. We're not sissies, but we always have a lot of time for them.

DommesLesEnigma -> RE: looking for a girl to help teach makeup to sissy (5/26/2012 3:56:30 PM)

Find a woman who's makeup you like and compliment her and ask her if she can teach you. The more flattery the better your results.

skecok -> RE: looking for a girl to help teach makeup to sissy (5/27/2012 4:52:15 AM)

t/y that sounds like a good idea
