AbitHarsh -> Overly honest photos (5/18/2012 5:17:03 PM)

I have been profile surfing as I sometimes do and I have to say some of the pics people put up seem more of a warning than an advertisement. Now I don't think one should put up false pictures or manipulate pics to make them look different, ( I know a girl who "stretches" her pics to look thinner) but isn't there something to be said for putting ones best foot forward?
Just because we all look dumpy from certain angles and in some lighting it doesn't mean that you have to lead into a new relationship (however transient and shallow) with an image that points that out?
Now I do have some basic photographic training and maybe I'm selling myself short but it doesn't seem like genius to stand up straight if you are taking a pic of boobs...we all know they sag if you hunch.

I mean if you aren't going to put forth effort is someone else?

That girl stretching her pictures is only going to end up looking fatter, perhaps she should try shrinking them instead.

RemoteUser -> RE: Overly honest photos (5/19/2012 4:19:04 PM)

If my belly sticks out when I shower, it probably will when I strip before "fun time" too.

I'm ok with advertising myself bluntly. It's not a matter of public affliction as it is self-acceptance.

Besides, I see things I don't want to all the time. That's life.

hardcybermaster -> RE: Overly honest photos (5/19/2012 4:23:44 PM)

it's probaby best to take a photo of a fucking great big tattoo and hope for the best I reckon

MercTech -> RE: Overly honest photos (5/19/2012 5:45:25 PM)

Meh, I show pictures of my vanilla interests hoping to spur some conversation on various subjects instead of just BDSM.

Same here. Hiking. Kayaking. Sailing. Playing music. Contra dancing. At work. Riding a motorcycle. If somebody doesn't get the complete picture of who I am from my collection, they're either blind or fecking stupid.

FR

I think a little honesty is good. I also, though, put lipstick on before a date and my lips are not naturally that red. So....presentation, and all.

erieangel -> RE: Overly honest photos (5/19/2012 6:48:07 PM)

Well, I have no photos of myself on my profile.  Why? One might ask.  A number of reasons--all of them personal.  What I do have are fun images and sayings that mean something to me and that I hoped would be conversation starters, and they were a few times.

ClassAct2006 -> RE: Overly honest photos (5/20/2012 11:14:41 AM)

Along with never having found a man with a beard attractive, I feel the same about tatoos. I think it is a class and cultural issue in the UK. However I would want to see them. I would far rather people are honest. I just read a profile of a smoker and again I could never like wtih someone who smoked and it is best to know than have your time wasted.

However I agree with the original post - best to try to show yourself reasonably at your best, not your very worst, whilst being honest.

nicely put, agree. your name is very fitting.

LadyPact -> RE: Overly honest photos (5/20/2012 6:30:19 PM)

I don't know.  I happen to like the ink.  Tattoos are a great conversation starter if you have one that is nice art or shows the skill of the artist.

I'm actually on the fence about the rest.  I feel that if you go looking, you are the person responsible for seeing the things that you didn't want to see.  If you bring it to Me, (My who's viewing page or main avatar on the boards, for example) you may not like what I have to say after sticking it in My face.

Indeed. I see the OP's avatar as a warning to avoid the person. I am sick to death of the fad and see those that have followed as sheeple. I am not into sheep.

AbitHarsh -> RE: Overly honest photos (5/28/2012 6:17:38 PM)

well its not easy for everyone to be so one off as cat lady here. Have to say i find the whole tigress thing to be both derivative and lame, but at least she does it with some love however distasteful i might find it.

Funny how the topic became about how having a tattoo is low class..which I'm fine with being labeled as but for my tattoo ...its excellent... as is the artist. The photo is a reasonable effort if not to everyones taste ...obviously.

wouldn't it be boring if everyone had the same taste?

Can i get a rarr a rarr lol

TNDommeK -> RE: Overly honest photos (5/28/2012 7:33:43 PM)

I happen to like ink as well. However, using photoshop to make yourself look skinny or remove huge moles off your face like the witch from snow white, then I'd say that is a bit of false advertising. But taking a bunch of pics then choosing the best one to post is okay. I'd say we all do that.

Iamsemisweet -> RE: Overly honest photos (5/29/2012 6:33:14 AM)

I like this approach. We are all more than big tattoos, saggy boobs, or pot bellies.

I always swore I would never date one of those guys whose profile picture was them with a really big fish. I am glad I didn't stick to this, since MY Love was one of those guys. Every day I spend with him, I am thankful I broke my own rule and that he was really, really persistent.

Not only did Mom's neighbor give her a striped bass Sunday, he cleaned and filleted it for her!

Back on topic - I'm another vote for vanilla pictures - I like to see a potential is well-rounded and not all about the quick hookup, which is the message I receive when his profile and pics are all kink related, and worst of all, pics of exes engaged in kink or random internet BDSM.

sexyred1 -> RE: Overly honest photos (5/29/2012 7:28:59 AM)

I prefer any type of photo of a person instead of the myriad photos of people's sex toys laid out on a bed.

Yawn.

Really? Must be a different UK than the one I usually live in, depends very much on the tattoo, where it is and how it's done. More a generation than class issue, for my parents and their generation tattoos were a "class" thing (only thugs and sailors, blah blah blah), but among the younger generation they really aren't such a big deal (though I sometimes question the wisdom of the people putting huge tattoos on their skin), provided they don't look like they were done in jail. You'd be surprised how many execs have discrete tattoos that they don't flash around in a board room, but that are visible in the gym, though most do not go overboard with full sleeves or tramp stamps. It's 2012....

TNDommeK -> RE: Overly honest photos (5/29/2012 11:47:19 AM)

You know I always wondered why people would want to show off their dungeon and toys and such. To Me, that is a private area for Me and who I take in there to play. That would be almost like showing a pic of My bedroom. Unless it was just renovated on one of those home improvement shows, no one is going to see it. Which just put a thought in My mind for a kinky TV show: "Renovate My Dungeon" (you gotta yell it loud like Wheel of Fortune) Lol.
