I was struck by the number of OTD posts that are political rants.  Wouldn't it be better to have a forum section strictly devoted to politics, rather than let it take over this section....?

Further, IMO posts which boldy defy you to disagree or assert something is an "obvious" fact are begging for a smackdown.  While I have as much opinion as the next Dom, the extreme positioning of these posts seem far too easy a mark, and so I pass them by in search of a more nuanced discussion that might actually be fun and informative.  Why argue with a zealot?

Your thoughts or rants.  Perhaps someone will essay a smackdown on me.

Have at it.

I post in off topic- that way, it usually fits. The crowd in OT are getting to know eachother.

I am all for people posting their hearts out.

Myself-If it takes too long to find something online- im gone to the next site.....

I do not think the political threads have taken over the off topic and most of them are clearly marked so you know what you are getting into when clicking on the thread.

As to why, we argue with zealots and can be called zealots ourselves. I could write some B.S. thing about the nobility and passion of writng about big things and all great changes in the world were started with discourse among a few people, but in reality for me is my blood gets a little boiled and my fingers start typing with no concern about if this is productive and knowing it is probably futile. I would love to convert everyone to my opinion but not going to happen. In the end this is great enjoyment to me.

Also, collar me people are fairly tame when discussing politics. Try going to some boards that specialize in this. Can scare a lot of people.

I imagine there are people who live to argue, just as there are people who hate the mere thought.  It's a big universe, so anything is possible.  One merely wonders what the point of it all is, when the opening argument makes it clear that no other viewpoint could possibly be correct...

People should, by all means post away.  That's what forums are for.  It does seem like politics is popular enough to warrant it's own section.  If it doesn't get one of it's own,  it doesn't.

I don't know about "tame" relative to other boards...  I think extreme views pervade this site as much as any other.  Of course, I suppose I could also have phrased that this way : "It's obvious that this site isn't tame at all.  It's a BDSM site, so how could it be."

Now, doesn't that just sound silly and make you want to pass it by...?

What would you like to see posted in an off-topic section of a BDSM message board?

Did someone say it was broken?  I didn't read that anywhere.  Inferences are best when based on actual statements.

What would I like to see here?  Anything is fine.  It seemed like you could devote a whole section to politics.  Or, maybe we could have one really big section that includes absolutely everthying...

I'm marking your replies down as "no".  Thanks.

Well aren't you controlling this morning.  I click where I choose to. Anyone can set up a message board.

This is the worst problem in your life?

If a words on a screen are wrecking your day, then ....hmmm.

We have the most brilliant minds among this group.  I admire many of them.

Get over it, and lets see a REAL post. [if you dare]     just do it.

regards

OUCH.

Now there's the smackdown I was expecting.  Ya got me.....

Yup, you're just that important to me.  How will I live without your approval...?

Perhaps you'd care to define "real".  Extra points if you use multi-syllabic words.  (Those are "big" words, if you are still sounding that one out).

Oh my.  And we've just met.  Don't you even want to try and get me drunk first...  How else will you score?

'boy, your posturing and puffing up is all very impressive, but why don't you try arguing the point?  That is, if you ever get the point.  I'll wait.  You think a while.  Take your time, you can do it.

Here is how you might have posted.

TO Site Owner

IMO, it would improve the collarme board to categorize political posts in its own section. I am wondering if other here agree. Lets open it up for discussion.

=================================================

as far as stepping outside. IMO a lady will sooner reply to a profile with a pic that has your head in it.

------------------------

I have given bjs to way worse men then you. A few local guys know where they can cmmmmmmm.

It would be easier for me to want to blow you, if your profile featured a face pic.

Thanks for your input.  That bordered on constructive.

If I was looking, maybe I would follow your advice.  Not looking, as it says in the profile.  Perhaps you had trouble reading that.

You may wish to try using your head for thinking.  Cum receptacles are a bit commonplace.  Brains are more highly prized.

Keep trying.  Sooner or later, you'll get it right.

The threads which include political rants are usually indicated in the topic/title that political debate will be included , so those who click on these topics have a clue what they are going to be reading before clicking on them.   If it looks political, and smells political... it's probably political.   If someone is complaining about reading too many of these, he must be a masochist.

Politics is something almost everyone is passionate about one way or another... and I enjoy seeing the passion on both sides, as long as it is kept on a mature, debate level of opinions, and not childish name-calling.  I think the political posts here are pretty level-headed on both sides... with an exception or two.

I think everything you've said is absolutely correct.  I just don't see where anything said could be construed as "politics doesn't belong here".

I think it would be great if all of the political posts were collected in one place, the way other special-interest posts are.

I also think that those who really wish to debate, discuss, learn and compare don't succeed if they offer up opinions as fact.

It's entirely possible that others prefer sifting through a mass of disconnected posts, rather than something more ordered and efficient.

It's also possible that, in a realm filled with monumental egos, imaginary personas, and poseurs, that declarative thesis statements seem most impressivee to the auteurs

Perhaps my original post was in some way unclear, but I've yet to see any replies that were relevant to the points attempted in that post.  I'll certainly endeavor to be more clear in the future... One can only hope.

Perhaps we should put all posts regarding 'orgasm denial' in one section of General bdsm...  I think they have done a rather good job of dividing, but in separating politics from off topic, some people may not be intrigued by a political title they would not have bumped into thinking that politics would not interest them.

If they divide or don't divide, my posts won't change... but I see no point.

There!

I in fact did read your profile. I do like that it is not negitive. [no this, not that, dont apply if this-that]
it has positive energy to it.
[tho]
It has abit of a mixed message. You are not looking- then you explain what type of lady excites you.

If you are cute-and you state that you are, then include a face pic.

I am wondering if what just occurred- is a personality clash. I randomly reviewed a few of your posts, and conclude- that you are having a really bad day. Or this computer is being used by someone else.

If you would like help on photo items- I have montaged about 6 people here. I will help you as well.

If you want to critgue my profile, that would be cool.

I DO have a fragile ego- so-------------- so, but; I do have a brain, and do come to my senses, if not the same moment, later in the day.

Your remark about a cum receptacle is interesting.  Sexual expression is good and healthy and fun.  But it also can be damaging to a persons self image, wellbeing, chi. I been in both modes of this-------

I think they do an excellent job here.  So many details to manage, so many preferences to deal with.

It may or may not have been a useful suggestion.  Can't see as it would harm anything at all to do it.  We'll also survive quite well if it doesn't happen.

"Orgasm Denial" as a tsection opic.  Good idea.  Wonder just what would be the most posted topics, if someone did do a study?

Others might include:  FAQs, Ask a Moderator, BDSM in the Workplace, Mile High Club...

OK, some of those are tongue-in-cheek.

......Tongue-in-cheek....... hmmmmm.  There's another topic section!

Discussions happen in cycles.  Sometimes there isnt a political thread for weeks... Usually triggered by some news item or something advertised.  As the media work on cycles it is pretty obvious where things come from.  Most people are media seduced.

Peace and Rapture.
