quote:
ORIGINAL: MistressLorelei The threads which include political rants are usually indicated in the topic/title that political debate will be included , so those who click on these topics have a clue what they are going to be reading before clicking on them. If it looks political, and smells political... it's probably political. If someone is complaining about reading too many of these, he must be a masochist. Politics is something almost everyone is passionate about one way or another... and I enjoy seeing the passion on both sides, as long as it is kept on a mature, debate level of opinions, and not childish name-calling. I think the political posts here are pretty level-headed on both sides... with an exception or two. I think everything you've said is absolutely correct. I just don't see where anything said could be construed as "politics doesn't belong here". I think it would be great if all of the political posts were collected in one place, the way other special-interest posts are. I also think that those who really wish to debate, discuss, learn and compare don't succeed if they offer up opinions as fact. It's entirely possible that others prefer sifting through a mass of disconnected posts, rather than something more ordered and efficient. It's also possible that, in a realm filled with monumental egos, imaginary personas, and poseurs, that declarative thesis statements seem most impressivee to the auteurs Perhaps my original post was in some way unclear, but I've yet to see any replies that were relevant to the points attempted in that post. I'll certainly endeavor to be more clear in the future... One can only hope.
