SoulAlloy -> Gas Masks... (5/22/2012 12:03:26 PM)

I got myself a gas mask the other day, a T-92 I think it says on the back.

It feels great on, I've noticed that if I screw the cylinder shaped thing (can you tell I know nothing about these things? ) I can't actually breathe in it...

So I realise that's a no-no lol - though only can't breathe when it's screwed in fully...

So my main question is what to watch out for, or any tips on what I might need to maintain it?

Can I look after it like any rubber item or should I be wary? Never been that interested in them before but tried it on and loved it

I have a gas mask. I got it at the army surplus store. I threw out the canister. But mine did come with a white plasic piece to screw into the hole where the canister goes. The white plastic piece is simply a cap and it has a hole drilled into it. This allow for easy breathing through the gas mask. I suggest taking your canister to the hardware store and find out what thread size is used on it. You should be able to buy a PVC pipe cap with threads that will screw into the canister hole. You can then play around with drilling different size holes in the cap for a different restricted breathing effect.

Interesting, never thought of getting a cap for it, will look around - thanks :)

You should be able to breath through the canister too... that's what they're for. I've only ever used ones given to me briefly for m16 target practice : p but maybe there's something covering the charcoal in the canister that you need to remove? It feels a lot more constraining and fun with the canister (it restricts airflow, but doesn't stop it)... I actually thought about buying one the last time I had to use one (still haven't though).

Cool - and I am officially an idiot lol

The canister had a rubber plug in the end which was stopping the air getting in....
