You are dreaming.

Why did Facebook go public?

Because (1) even the fluctuating stock price richly rewards FB's early investors and employees, all of whom have just made a killing, and (2) this offering brings a ton of new cash into FB.

Now...they need to figure out how to generate more revenue. But they just got a big chunk of financing, and have the means to invest in new approaches.

First generate traffic, then generate revenue from that traffic worked well for Google. Whether FB can replicate it is the answer to whether one invests in FB's stock.

Zucker has said that he feels that he doesn't offer services to make money, he makes money to offer services. That philosophy doesn't gel with Wall-Street.

Which merely shows you've never been in business.

Nice deflection

Calling you on an unsupported assumption and a gross misunderstanding of what makes a business work.

Yes, that deflects from your invented reality. Sorry about that.

Nonsense. Again, shows just how absolutely clueless you are.

They are doing exactly what a business should be doing. I'm the one who pointed out they aren't challenging Wall Street's model, but using it.

Why would I object? It's just another IPO offering.

The only unique aspect at all is that they don't have an apparent plan to make money in the future, so the stock price is driven entirely on faith that this will happen. That's been driving fluctuations and less excitement than they'd hoped. They need less hope and more plan.

But you're entirely wrong, showing once again you've no idea what I'm talking about, substituting your own fantasies.

At least you agree with my points for once, even as you are clueless from there.

Talk about "ABSOLUTELY CLUELESS" -- in the future, I'll try to remember that AGREEING WITH YOU is an indication of being "clueless".  You can't pay for this type of comedy!!! [sm=rofl.gif] [sm=rofl.gif][sm=rofl.gif][sm=rofl.gif][sm=rofl.gif] ROTFLMAO ! ! !

For those interested in FB, this is interesting -

Somehow we doubt many will be surprised to learn that the reason FB failed to take off following its break of trading in the low $40s, has everything to do with, you guessed it, another HFT algo, which in those first instants of trading, did something that threw the entire market off: it kept crossing the market, with the Bid surging above the Offer, in the process shocking the entire price-supporting HFT array, designed to build upon upward momentum, resulting in the only other natural outcome: a steep, rapid selloff.

Musicmystery -> RE: Why did Facebook go public? (5/26/2012 10:54:13 AM)

Agreed this is a problem.

However, were FB worth the value, the share price would recover.

This may well be what gets folks interested in another social site......that`s all it takes.......people`s interest(or dis-interest).

They are completely at the mercy of 8th grade girls. When Mrs Zingers homeroom decides that Freefall.com is just waay cooler... they're dead. And its not like there's any there, there, either. (If McDonald's never sold another hamburger they would still own the best street corner in every small town in America...).

It went public to enrich Mark Zuckerberg. Period.

In two years it's $15. Tops.
