Well, it seems MSNBC and FOX news do more damage than good. A new nationwide study found FOX and MSNBC viewers knew less about the news than people who do not watch any news at all..

The most informed people, watch The Daily Show and listened to NPR

I didn't even click on your link but saw the title and had to agree.

That's hilarious!

Take my advice and don't click the link if you've eaten recently. One of the prominent posts on the article is a video entitled "Barbara Walters talks about losing her virginity"[:'(]

Yep. And then I thought "And this SURPRISES YOU?!?!?! Have you SEEN Fox News?!?!?".

I finally changed what part of the gym I work out in, just so I can avoid it being on in front of me.

With no intention of defending FOX, All things considered this was a university study, all of which likely listen to NPR regularly. Hence, all of their questions would be based around the topics NPR covers. If they mainly watched BBC America for news it would have shown the BBC to be the best source.

Ultimately, you know FOX is a ratings whore, look at their coverage of the Casey Anthony trial. They didn't even discuss what was happing anywhere else in the world during that trial. It is more or less pop-culture reporting for the Bible-beating christian right. Same with MSNBC for the left.

Sorry, MSLA. 'Eh' is reserved for Canadians.

Come along with us now, no sudden moves. You're getting fifty lashes with a wet beaver.

(We get Fox - those of us close to the border - but hardly anyone ever watches it.)

I'm pretty sure they're smart enough to recognize that up front.

If they excluded Brittany Spears as a topic, probably because the study focused on News.

kdsub -> RE: People who watch Fox, less informed then people not watching any news (5/23/2012 1:50:33 PM)

Either the poll makes no sense or Huff and Puff screwed things up.

The article starts out saying people usually could answer 1.8 foreign news And 1.6 domestic news correctly.

Then they say Fox could only get 1.04 domestic correct…and they show NPR listeners and Stewart viewers at 1.51 and 1.42 respectively trying to show how dumb fox viewers were.

But… NPR and Stewart scores were lower then the “People’s” 1.6 so the study shows people who listen to Fox…NPR…and Stewart viewers are all dumb asses compared to the “People”.

It was a study DONE by a university with random people across the country, not a study done AT a university with students.

MileHighM -> RE: People who watch Fox, less informed then people not watching any news (5/23/2012 2:56:28 PM)

not what I was getting at---the creators of the study were university types, aka the NPR listener base. Therefore, the questions they ask were within their sphere of interest......Nobody is ever objective.

mnottertail -> RE: People who watch Fox, less informed then people not watching any news (5/23/2012 2:57:35 PM)

Well, you didnt expect them to go trawling in airport bathrooms and and are you smarter than a fifth grader audience losers did you?

That's *Britney* Spears, MM. Don't you know anything about the crucial issues of our times?

If you've ever heard a Canadian say "eh?" and somehow translated the spelling of such as "aye", this would explain your oft demonstrated congenital lack of comprehension in so many areas.
