... and I love her for it.

Just wanted to shout out to say thanks to those who have served whether directly wearing boots or indirectly by having blood or committment ties or just support those who do. Regardless of the policy's, the president, the wars.. the whatevers, to me, you are the brave. I think that rocks and wearing combat boots is a fashion statement that never goes out of style.

I wish you all a most thoughtful Memorial Day.

When I enlisted way back in the late 80s, I wanted to travel and get money for college. I had No Idea how valuable my healthcare benefits would turn out to be.

We're hosting an event this weekend to benefit Marines that have lost limbs to IEDs. These are the people that volunteer to fight for our freedoms and we don't do enough to show our appreciation.

My mother didn't serve, but she went through hell wondering about me many times. I think it's far more difficult to sit by and hope than it is to go do the job, my mom is a true hero.

Well......my momma has served alright. But I am gonna guess she wasn't wearing shoes a large part of the time.......unless it was a quickie maybe.

But I am quite literally surrounded by soldiers in my life. Many many family members and friends are either still in service or are retired. In fact, a couple of weeks ago we kicked off a benefit for a soldier that went to Iraq with Generic Dude, not even 30, young wife, 2 year old little girl and 6 month old son..........recently diagnosed with ALS. He will only live a few more years.

The probability of soldiers that have served in the Mid East being diagnosed with ALS is dramatically increased over people who have not.
