Soon after first wearing my CB 6000 Short, I realized that my having ABSOLUTELY NO PUBIC HAIR is best!

Any experiences or recommendations regarding laser pubic hair removal?

I'm currently getting my face, chest, and stomach done. It'll hurt; a lot if your hair is as thick as mine, but my hair is somewhat inhuman in quality. Might have issues finding someone to do it too, most of the lists I see have bikini zone listed for women, but not men. I wasn't looking to get my groin done so I don't know. Shop around prices vary immensely, and pay attention to the equipment they use; whatever they happen to have is going to be the "right" thing for you so you have to vet it a bit yourself. Try to get someone that's experienced with men and make sure they have the laser that's right for your skin type. I've had YAG and Alexandrite used on me and Alexandrite worked best by far, but I don't know if your skin is light enough/hair dark enough for it. When you start looking, the places will set up consultations where they'll go into detail about the process/cost/etc.

If you decide to go for laser treatment, you really have to go into it with a level head, the advice above is very good, and certainly do your research first.

When you go in for the consultation ask specifically if the person is a saleperson or is the one doing the procedure; salespeople will usually big up the good side and try to talk down the problems (you do occasionally get the responsible ones too!) but if they don't allow you to talk to the qualified and trained professional using the machine that can burn your skin off - walk out of there. Same with if they seem to avoid questions or you aren't given a thorough explanation that you can understand of what could go wrong, they're not likely to be very reputable.

If they also use pressure selling tactics like "book within a certain space of time for a discount" - beware. Its not always indicative of a disreputable clinic, but it is an irresponsible practice and shows you they are more interested in the bottom line than their clients, you want a clinic that puts their clients first - just look at the PiP breast implant scandal where people can't have their implants that could rupture removed by their surgery clinic because it would cost them too much.

haiii! I actually just went for my initial laser session today, so i can help!

first of all im getting it on the nhs, so there' none of this sellingcrap. They told me that it will be done once every 4 weeks (to go with a hair growth cycle) and that it works best AFTER shaving, so i don't need to not shave for a while beforehand.

they did a test patch today, with a few different energy levels. the idea being to test how it works with my skin and hair colour. apparently colour is very important as the laser is actually reflected down the hair folicle, and matching the laser to the right color is important

it doesn't really hurt. to me it felt like being touched, very briefly, with a hot piece of wire. it's quick enough that it's more discmfort than pain, and i dont feel a thing a few seconds after.

I almost got a referral for it. Nurse I saw gave it to me; referral center shot it down : ( It's complicated for me though because I can't be out to my healthcare provider (I'm in the US too so no NHS : p). I was going to get it for hypertrichosis (I don't look like a wolfman but I have beyond a normal amount of hair even for a guy).

The pain level varies with how coarse your hair is. I have abnormally thick hair, and the pain is quite intense. Especially in high nerve ending places, like just under your nose T.T

It's funny, but I wish I could have some chest hair so as to look more manly, yet so many guys who have it just want to get rid of it

(fast reply)

I've had laser hair removal on my legs. I only went for one treatment as it was kind of a lark my sister and I did. It hurt a lot. They did offer us desensitizing cream which I strongly suggest using. We had to shave just prior to the treatment.

The treatment was mostly effective. Had we gone back for the recommended 3 - 4 treatments we would have been mainly hair free. We were told you would always get stray hairs.

Hope this helps,
Wickad

Shaving yields those ugly infected hairs & red bumps. Plus, shaving ALL of my pubic hair, including the hair near my anus, is so time consuming that it's obviously impractical.

ALWAYS baby smooth is my desire....

Try using: http://www.amazon.com/Epilady-EP-810-44-Speed-Corded-Epilator/dp/B00526IQ62/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1337894627&sr=8-3

It's what I use for around my butt and I can guarantee I'm hairier than you. I recommend that one specifically because my other one that grabs hairs better also tends to grip loose skin so it's a bad idea around that region. Finish off what it misses with a quick dry shave (don't do that every day). That's for my butt. For actually around/ just above my penis though, I just dry shave every 3 or 4 days with a 6 bladed razor; you won't always be smooth but you can choose your battles without too much problems then. I know what you mean with the ingrown hairs though : ( Main reason I'm getting laser on my chest/stomach currently is because I was getting them so bad it was actually starting to scar me T.T

Edit: This is just my interim solution. Also, if you start getting laser you can't epilate the areas you're getting laser on.

No shaving, no lasers. Magic Shave this is what I use for netherland hair removal. The BIG caution is be very careful how long you leave it on because it will burn the )*()(&%)# out of you. My pubic hair is coarse and thick, I leave it on for 3 minutes, lightly massaging it in the whole time, then I get in the shower and lightly massage the hair off. I come out smooth, and soft. Don't get turned off by the smell of the product though, it smells like rotten eggs. I recommend using the power vs the cream, this way you can mix it up and vary the consistency that works best for you. For the record, this is a product formulated for black men's facial hair but it was recommended to me by a white woman...

I tried that stuff on my face and nether regions. Both areas were too coarse for it to work, and I left it on longer than I safely should have. I wish it did, but it's not for everyone : (

Hope it works for you, my experience with the NHS was nothing short of disastrous on every occasion, they "treated" something and ignored the recommendations from other docs because "They weren't British, they don't know" about per-existing conditions (thyroid) and came close to killing me, when I went in for something that is routine everywhere else, they faithfully managed to fuck up and I had to have it sorted outside the UK by a real doctor (sorry, can't take the NHS ones seriously, more like guys with rattles and beads) and it cost me a hell lot... I'm currently in the US, and just had a bone graft in my jaw and 2 implants, thanks to a British dentist who did a root canal that was so shitty done that an infection literally dissolved part of my jaw bone. NHS is a freaking red flag to me and one of the reasons why I want to get the hell out of the UK...

Re. the epiliator... holy mother of crap!! You use an epilator on your backside?! I take my hat off to you, you're far braver than I am, I can manage one on my legs but there's no way its going anywhere else

Anyway....
Shaving is a bit like waxing (and epilating, though its slightly better than the other two) - it completely fracks with the skin and leaves it wide open for infection. There are other ways to get round it to minimise ingrown hairs and razor rash.

First off, most commertial shaving foams don't work too well, they're actually too foamy and clog up your razor making it aggrivate your skin even more. A good quality soap works very well (I use Lush - not sure if they're available in the US) lather up, don't worry if its not foamy, that's a good thing.

Once you're done, your pores are going to be wide open and ready for bacteria to get in and give you all manner of nasty presents. Get an antiseptic astringant (toner) that will close the pores and keep things clean. I use tea tree water (healthfood shops, aromatherepy websites carry this)

Next, you need to moisturise the crap out of your skin. Again I combine with an antiseptic and use (100% pure - never use if it has additives) aloe vera gel (ya can tell I'm a hippy now can't you?)

Lastly, exfoliate. Do this the day after (and day before) you've shaved, in gentle circular motions, but don't scrub at it like you're stripping wallpaper, that'll make it all worse! You'll have to shop around for an exfoliant that will be good for your skin, some product lines have sample sizes which are very handy.

I make the hippy jokes, but tbh, if a non organic free range 'natural and pure' product works better than the hippy alternative I use that; its just that the kind of things that actually work aren't made by the big cosmetic companies. What do they provide you with in home waxing kits for post-waxing treatment? Some god awful oily wipe that'll clog your pores up and give you ingrown hairs. What do you actually need? Cornstarch or pre-wax talc before waxing (soak up skin oils) then an astringent, antiseptic and mosturiser afterwards. Oh look, now you don't have to buy their ingrown hair cure!

If the worst comes to the worst and you get ingrown hairs and bumbs (and if you've got very thick hair you're pretty much screwed, sorry XP) there's anti-scar serums available to help speed the healing process. But, things like Savlon and antiseptic healing creams can do wonders to minimise healing time and scarring :)

Another tip I've got is y'know how bloody itchy ingrown hairs and the bumbs get? Grab anti-itch powder/cream. If you scratch ingrowns hairs etc you'll make the scarring and infection worse, will power alone is a powerful thing, but people scratch without realising it so you using something to take the itch away is very helpful!

Before I had the one I linked, I didn't because my other one could grab skin and cut it (not fun!). This one is much "gentler" so I can get away with a lot more. I'm still careful and sweating whenever I do it though. I'm really hairy though, and I take hair removal pretty seriously : p

Be prepared to go many times.  It can take years of treatments to work - they don't always tell you that.

If they didn't, I don't think I would choose that one. Ideally, it should take 6 months to a year to get about 95% of it. I'm about 6 months in, but some of them were botched so I've only got about 50% : (
