Forgetfulness is apparently associated with perimenopausal/menopausal stuff (as well as some common medications).

Fuck that, I'm too young for menopause.

Peri-menopause can begin 15 years before. [;)]

Nah, it's andropause for me!!

When my mother starts to worry about Alzheimer's, I tell her she's been like this for decades.

Lucylastic -> RE: That's not cute, it indicates insanity! (5/25/2012 9:30:12 AM)

Ive been like it since my first was born.
Like having to go thru a list of names to get the right person, but Ive been told thats a genetic thing in my family.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: That's not cute, it indicates insanity! (5/25/2012 9:40:56 AM)

In spite of Best Menopause Evar, I have been losing nouns for years. I am losing the name-face matching too, which is alarming in my line of work! I can still remember acres of crap about the clients, just not match up their names to who they are!

My mom mentioned to my dad's oncologist how dad really just doesn't *process* the things that are said, and it's more than just the hearing loss. The doctor said it was old man brain!! Seriously! Men lose it, too. My parents are young (73 & 71), so I am really gonna be loving the next ten years.

Strange, I was thinking you were a lot younger than that. I peeked to make sure.

Guess that's an example by proxy, innit? o_O

LadyHibiscus -> RE: That's not cute, it indicates insanity! (5/25/2012 9:47:39 AM)

I am an extraordinarily youthful 49. My parents married young, bless them. I am glad I don't have elderly parents.

RemoteUser -> RE: That's not cute, it indicates insanity! (5/25/2012 9:52:42 AM)

Very nice. [:)] Same here; I have about the exact same age gap with my folks as you do, yours.

I have noticed as the years pass though...little things slip. They repeat themselves, sometimes repeat whole conversations unaware that they already said this or asked that. It's those little things that worry me.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: That's not cute, it indicates insanity! (5/25/2012 9:58:40 AM)

My mom is chronically ill, and my dad is a cancer survivor. I'm just unhinged. We prop each other up. It works. [:)]

I am glad to see I aint alone.

If it wasn't for singing the ABC song in my head, I wouldn't remember my own name sometimes.

My sons fav is, mum how will we know when senility sets in!!!

It used to be, mum you no longer have blonde moments, you now live in a blonde world and occasionally visit reality.

Its the grey hairs, I tell ya...have to make up lists and look up recipes for cooking the basic stuff.

Has anyone seen my glasses, BTW?

how many of you still need to look at your hands and figure out that the left hand makes an L when your thumbs are at right angle to the index finger?
I would have made that a shorter sentence but I couldnt think of a simpler way to say it?

WinsomeDefiance -> RE: That's not cute, it indicates insanity! (5/26/2012 2:32:13 PM)

I tried writing lists, to remember what I needed to do. It didn't work, because I kept forgetting to read the list.

JstAnotherSub -> RE: That's not cute, it indicates insanity! (5/26/2012 3:19:19 PM)

I can remember to read them, I just cant remember where I put them.

Karmastic -> RE: That's not cute, it indicates insanity! (5/26/2012 6:26:07 PM)

i sometimes forget or confuse names of close friends momentarily.

i often walk into the kitchen and get a bunch of stuff, except what i went in there for

i pay at the cleaners for my cleaned clothes, and leave the new dirty load and forget the clean ones

fuck, and i'm only 48. maybe too much weed.

kiwisub12 -> RE: That's not cute, it indicates insanity! (5/26/2012 7:28:55 PM)

Personally, I blame the rug rats for sucking out all available brain cells, and leaving me slightly ...... defective. ...... and the little baskets have the termerity to laugh at me!

tiggerspoohbear -> RE: That's not cute, it indicates insanity! (5/26/2012 9:00:35 PM)

I lose my keys, my glasses, what I'm drinking, my book, every one on at least a daily basis. If my head wasn't attached, I'd lose it too! I drive by my home on a regular basis, and have to turn around most of the time. I get lost coming home from my dad's, and it's not complicated. I've been living for a year now. I can't make lists because I can't remember where I put them or I forget to use them when I'm where I need them. It's a running joke with my family as to how lost I can get somewhere. I've found more back roads that I could never find again, driven through town and missed major turns. I'm a disaster in the making. [8D]

littlewonder -> RE: That's not cute, it indicates insanity! (5/26/2012 10:11:53 PM)

I'm constantly forgetting the name of things that other people take for granted.
This is the way the conversation usually goes with Master...."So today I was talking to this person (because I can't remember their name) and she told me about a new kind of thing....you know, that new thing that I've been wanting...you know....that thing......(as he looks at me all confused)....

Him: "huh? I have no idea what you are talking about....what thing?"

As I sit there trying to remember what I am talking about and finally point to it and try to describe it, "oh what's the name of it....that thing in front of the couch..."

Him: "oohhh...the coffee table??"

Me: "YES! That's it...the coffee table!"

Yeah, that's me. Can't remember what a table is called lol. [:D]

I think we have this same discussion about something every single day.
