From the article
quote:

"A web site administrator upon request shall remove any comments posted on his or her web site by an anonymous poster unless such anonymous poster agrees to attach his or her name to the post and confirms that his or her IP address, legal name, and home address are accurate. All web site administrators shall have a contact number or e-mail address posted for such removal requests, clearly visible in any sections where comments are posted."

Can you imagine the extra amount of time needed to deal with this on each website? The costs in manpower and time required by site admins to do this are staggering.

anonymity is vital to this community at times---no need to lose a job over being on here...

What extra time? I can do that with a mouse click.

Try multiply that one mouse click by EVERY person that comments on EVERY website,24/7 and you might understand a bit better. Some sites like this one are free and adding personal to be on 24/7 to do that clicking or letting post build up before vetting the posts during normal business hours is not going to be very much fun for sites like this. And in the end,the savvy user will use some fake IP program and name to hide behind but the site still has to have someone check it out.

No, silly--one click that means people have to provide that basic information before posting.

Sites like this one already have that information (email) and could easily expand the sign up process and have you agree it's correct. Problem solved.

Oh,I understood about that, but this bill seems the site has to verify who you are.And we all know there are and have been numerous socks running around in here and by your reasoning they were verified...including Arpig and his minions.

Sites do this routinely. They know who I am from my computer ID. And my IP. Automatically.

It's the computer age, dude! [:D]

Yes MM,if you play fair the site knows you...but I know a woman that was banned on a site that routinely returned to the site using a program that stole valid IP's from all over the world. She was everything from a Chinese man[using a Chinese IP] to a German guy[German IP] and would raid the site's chatroom regularly. And this site banned by id and by IP and she came in on the same computer whenever she wanted. So tell me how a site can prove you is you?[:D]

Like anything else, due diligence.
