Because we are taught that sex is special and to be reserved only for special sharing. We are taught that people who do not use their sexuality rarely, or in special occasions, are to be less valued and who do not hold themselves in high value.
It's also pretty exposing- you're just an open wet piece of meat to get used at that point. Most people find it humiliating to be that exposed and "degraded" to that level of being.
