mstmast -> question (5/30/2012 3:55:46 AM)

is profile pic important to you and why

AthenaSurrenders -> RE: question (5/30/2012 5:28:47 AM)

I'm not looking, but if I was, then YES it would be important.

Your profile, including the pic, is your one chance of making a good first impression. It's less about how you look and more about the kind of picture you use. It says a lot about you.

For example:

-A picture of your cock tells me your main interest is getting it pleasured, and little more (also that you think it is something special, rather than something half the population has)
-A bunch of porn photos/drawings, even artistic ones, suggest you have built up a huge fantasy world in your head that a real person won't live up to - and also tells me nothing about you. I can look up my own porn.
-Pictures of previous/other play partners (unless you are a couple searching together) makes me wonder whether those people know their pics are online and worry that pictures of me would end up online. Also, I'm not looking to get involved with those people so their pics are irrelevant.
-Really old pics make me think you're trying to hide what you look like now
-If the main/only pic is a grainy webcam pic it makes me feel that you never leave the house.
- pics of your toy collection are dull. We could pick out whips together if need be, and I find myself imagining where those dildos have been.

I know some people are cautious for privacy reasons (as I am, though since I'm not looking it doesn't matter) but personally I'd rather no photo than any of the above.

The best photos for me are ones taken in a vanilla setting, by someone else, and hint at other hobbies and interests - playing sports, working on a car or dressed for a formal dinner maybe. That makes me think you might be interesting.

littlewonder -> RE: question (5/30/2012 5:36:22 AM)

Yes, even if it's a blurry pic like the one Master had when I met him lol. What is was NOT interested in was profiles that had pics of cocks or a man with another woman. If I saw those I automatically passed them by.

kittenheels43 -> RE: question (5/30/2012 6:07:08 AM)

I rather like the cartoony amusing ones
and beautiful bdsm artwork, like mine atm, mine was originally a pic of me (from behind, as I am shy) but I changed it when I met Daddy, cos I didn't want to look like I was advertising 'me'
pics of toys suck
pics of other people ...ick, unless its beautifully tied bondage pics of course, thats art to me, and shows that bondage is part of your repatoir (excuse my spelling if thats wrong please)
your cock... oh please, unless its monumental and you are showing it as a warning that its gonna hurt...
your tatts... yum, if they are big bold and well worked, if its a dead sparrow on your wrist and the word Mum done with a sewing needle in the back of Math class...forget it, in fact ffs get it laser'd off and start over.
your entire naked body... roflmao don't need to meet you now do I, seen it all... but seriously, If I were a Dom I would not want a sub that everyone had seen naked, and as a sub, I much prefer my Dom dressed and ME naked :P I actually cannot take a Dom seriously at all if his profile pic is him naked or semi naked!

DesFIP -> RE: question (5/30/2012 6:58:09 AM)

Nope. However a pic like the op has is an immediate turn off. He's male, yet his idea of a picture to express who he is, is of a woman. Does she know you're using a picture you took when you were together on a kink site? Or did you steal the picture? Either one is very wrong.

We were both honest about age, weight, height, etc. We met for coffee to see if there was any chemistry or if it would stay as friendship.

OsideGirl -> RE: question (5/30/2012 7:26:10 AM)

I've always maintained that the first profile pic points out what that poster thinks is important. So, if it's your dick, toys, dungeon or another woman......that's the best part about you.

Also, if you're a disgusting slob....I'm not really interested in someone who has no control over his own life.

myotherself -> RE: question (5/30/2012 10:48:13 AM)

I don't care if there is no pic - I don't have one of me online either.

If he does have a profile pic and it's anybody's dangly bit or they are overtly sexual in nature, I pass them by. I'm not interested in anyone whose main priority in life is getting laid.

RemoteUser -> RE: question (5/30/2012 11:07:42 AM)

No. I don't fall for looks. I fall for personality.

If a lady got to know me (as my girl did!), and likes who I am, a pic is just not that important (although we exchanged pics a while ago now).

This is pretty much my attitude also.

kalikshama -> RE: question (5/30/2012 3:07:35 PM)

I've reported your picture as you cannot show genitalia in your avatar and primary picture. After enough other people report it as well, the system will automatically delete it.

(For those who were wondering, he stole that picture from paingate.com - it's watermarked)

I consider men whose photos consist of internet BDSM porn pictures to be lame HNGs (Horny Net Guys) and the fact that you've labeled yourself a master makes me cringe. What exactly have you mastered?

You're in New York - get thee to a munch or kink event. Find them by doing a search for your town or nearest large city in Fetlife.

Winterapple -> RE: question (5/30/2012 11:43:33 PM)

FR
Not looking but not having a profile pic doesn't bother me.
And if there is one I prefer a vanilla one.
Some profile pics actively turn me off and would keep me from
reading the profile. Cock shots and photos of the domliest Dom
evah! variety. The fantasy bdsm cartoons.
The ones I dislike most are ones with women in them.
I'm not sure why a photo of another womans red ass is
suppose to hook me. It doesn't.
My first thought is does she know her photo is being used?
The toy collections are just boring. I know guys love to
show off their stuff but that's the sort of thing that impresses
other guys not women.

mstmast -> RE: question (5/31/2012 2:09:55 AM)

ok we can say the pic is important to the ppl know how u look like u can't know other just from the pic

and the pic on my profile i put him for me

LadyPact -> RE: question (5/31/2012 3:52:13 AM)

Wtf is with the pic you posted??

Seriously, dude!

DarkSteven -> RE: question (5/31/2012 4:25:23 AM)

To answer your question:

1. The profile pic says "This is me. This is what I'm like."
2. The totality of pictures shows a lot. In your case, it shows that you wank off to online porn. It also shows that you have not asked the question "What kind of partner am I looking for, and how do I represent myself to her?"

3. No offense intended, fella, but you need to learn English. I assume it's not your primary language. I translated that to "Okay, so the pic seems to be important to people to see how you look. Is there a way to show how you look, aside from posting the pic?" (I'm not even going to try to figure out the scond sentence but i suspect the pronouns are wrong.)

Here, you have to deal with impressions created by many other people before you. Many people, men and women, use pics that are years old, etc., and show them as looking more attractive then they currently are. If it was as simple as adding a couple of extra inches or slicing off 30 pounds in the profile without a pic to confirm, a lot of people would do that. Also, withholding a pic will create a suspicion that a man's cheating and refusing to show his pic because he's afraid his wife will find out.

So let me ask you a question" Why is it that not showing yourself in your pics is so important to you?

mstmast -> RE: question (5/31/2012 5:01:37 AM)

Let's count the many problems I have with your pic.

1) It is of genitalia, which is against the TOS of the site.

2) The pic is stolen.

3) It's not of you, per your profile you are a male.

4) The girl's tits look fake.

I like face pics b/c I can read a great deal into a person's face. Really it is all there, every nuance of character, if you know how to look for it, though I do understand why some are reticent to put up a face pic.

I hate cheesy profile or avatar pics, and most especially the genitalia shots. Pics stolen from a porn site is another thing I abhor, as I can find my own wank fodder, thank you so very much.

This guy's changed his primary pic to a pizza. Nice pizza and all, but um, this isn't AllRecipes, you know? And yes, I like AllRecipes, I'm on their mailing list. I just don't come here for pizza pics (don't ask me why).

The OP seems to have English as a second language, or should have stayed in school (or both). Many on the meat market side have limited verbal skills and attempt to use pics to make up for it. It just confirms my belief that that have poor verbal skills. Not a crime, I know, but something I do find tedious in this venue.

If enough people report it, it will go away...

ETA - it did go away as a primary pic on the other side - is there an auto report feature for avatars or do we have to bother a mod?

mstmast -> RE: question (5/31/2012 6:14:41 AM)

all the ppl here have the same pic and they not for them self... and no one have problem
-why u say it's stolen pic it's in the net for every one and what tits u talking about

ChatteParfaitt -> RE: question (5/31/2012 6:26:23 AM)

Many of us use our own face pics, I use pictures of myself taken by a photographer friend.

In any case, if you take a pic off the net w/o the owner's permission, you have stolen it. Copyright law is very clear on this issue.

And if you can't tell the girl's tits are fake, I must question how much experience you have even viewing real live tits.
