Leather Restraint Advice Needed

Leather Restraint Advice Needed - 5/30/2012 10:23:31 PM

Status: offline 		I love chain and have always simply used it for restraint, wrapped around and locked. I am now looking to purchase leather restraints, but have no idea what is best to look for. I've looked at ebay, but they have no feedback. The ones I looked at on Xtreme had some problems with breakage. Any advice on where to buy, any you have experience with, would be greatly appreciated.

Status: offline 		Honey, you're in GA!  Home of Achella toys and leather.  Technically, they were acquired by Torvea Toys when Ms B passed away a few years back, so you can find them under either name on the net.  If you don't want to cyber shop, SELF (South East Leather Fest) is just around the corner.  You can get a day pass which includes access to the vender fair.

A quick word about breakage.  Don't necessarily fault the supplier for that.  Depending on how much wear and tear the restraints have been through, you can't always expect them to last forever.  Some folks don't maintain or store their leather the way that they should, so keep that in mind.

I've been to Madam/Mr. S in San Francisco (same store there's just a straight door and a gay door). Good stuff but pricey.

Status: offline 		Been there too. Bought some nice chp thin leather gloves , a weird paddle thingy, my evil spanking rubber paddle and a small ball gag . They put me on their mailing , so once in a while, I check my email and pic of a guy with a giant but plug up his a** welcomes me !!!!

Status: offline 		This may not apply but, just try'n to help.  I wanted leather cuffs, collars, etc. and went to a store in DC, I was very disappointed.  Razor-cut thin leather, rivets that would touch the skin (and turn green), cheap stuff but pricey.  I'm a handy guy so I spent very little on leathercrafting tools and went to work in my basement workshop.  It was easy (but time consuming) to make stuff.  If you are handy and have the time you can have some unique and perfect custom stuff.  Hey, in the coldest part of winter, from dinner to bedtime is a good time to craft stuff!  I learned that instead of cutting leather sides into 2 1/2" straps and dying them black I could order on the Web 2 1/2" wide black thick flexible leather as long straps and that saved a ton of time - cut to desired length and rock and roll.  I found some metal scrap that was the perfect diameter and firmness to clamp into a vice, hammer/bend into the shape I wanted (file the cut ends smooth) to make the metal loops that you push through the slots in the leather - perfect!  Well, almost...if I sent the metal out for chroming it would be 104% perfect!  My collars, cuffs, harnesses are all 2 1/2" wide, edges beveled and slicked smooth like a fine Italian belt, lockable (or great when used with QuickLinks to attach cuffs together or to a chain).  But it is work, rewarding work.  In one evening you could have a pair of good quality cuffs.  People have asked me to make them things but since it takes so much time and my hourly rate is...well...I have plenty of money, I had to kindly decline.  But I would take a couple of hours to teach someone local.  Hey, us kinky folk got to help each other!  Good luck, don't forget to use leather conditioner on your stuff.  Leather is skin, animal skin, skin dries out, everything dries out, evaporation is natural.  Think "hand cream" for your leathers.
