Considering it started out as a Twilight fanfic, it can only be bad.

Has anyone else noticed the boom of new subs flocking to CM who have never been to a local event, have read a few stories on erotica and saw the odd porno flick?

No.

Can this be attributed to the popularity of this book or is it merely that summer evokes a flurry of activity?

Or it could be just your imagination.

Personally, I'm glad for the new people on the site. However I do worry about the lack of discussion on safety while meeting people off site.

I don't know why it's anymore worrisome now than in the past. Some people will do risky things and be stupid, some won't,

Does anyone know of any resources on CM to help

There are 12 billion threads on this board what do you think?

our kinksters stay safe?

Our? My only kinkster is myself. I have no pretense of being the protector of the world.

Heres a thought...Remember the day each of us was new to bdsm??? Thank goodness i was welcomed nicely and without Judgement to the local community. Were you? and do others deserve to be? YES

Yeah, my first proper, eventually live-in Domme facepalmed so hard, she had to reapply her makeup, the first time I mentioned something I learned from kink pron.

I was as noobie as Ali-G at that feminist meeting. She actually sat me down and explained to me how "those are fictional, the real world is different" in the tone of voice you use when talking to someone who can't be trusted to sit the right way up on a toilet, best two out of three.

Real world kink is different from fictional kink, and there's no do-overs

I have never read anything from it and My vanilla friends on fb are all over it like little girls with their first crush. I just see their posts about it and I'm like oh God, really? I suppose it will be a fad and pass eventually. As far as newbs coming here, I agree with Oside, that might be good. Lets hope some of them turn out decent.

This skit suggests it remains a closeted interest.

Thank you everyone for the replies!

Love the SNL skit (see above post).

I haven't read the books but in talking with a lot of the new subs on the site it seems to be their introduction to kink.
