I wonder if fuel-air bombs are hot enough to melt sand into glass? I just did some looking around on the Internet, and I don't think so. Sand melts at 1700 degrees F, which will give you something glassy. To get real glass, you need a much more controlled process. The main ingredient, quartz, melts at twice that. Fuel-air bombs don't need lots of heat, just denotation. The temperature varies greatly depending on environmental factors, but an upper end seems still under 1000 degrees F, so no, no sand. Just a lot of destruction from igniting plastics, clothing, and anything in a powder (flour, dust, cocoa, etc.). And yeah, a nasty shock wave, coming and going.
