Laughing...you've got mail.

timeoutgurlie -> RE: How rude (6/6/2006 8:04:47 PM)

Yeah, that's bullshit.  The only time I send someone mail about their profile is if I read something that I think is really hilarious, well said, or just fascinating as a whole.  I figure people tend to like to hear nice things about themselves, and since it only takes me 90 secs, may as well let them know what was good about them.

It's like the mentality of people who will get poor service somewhere and bitch to a manager, yet they could have someone bend over backwards for them some place else and they never think to tell a manager something GOOD happened, you know?

Some people respond only to negativity, they just don't find any pleasure in what's positive.  It bites, but that's life. Ignore them, they're not worth any energy or effort [:)]

Um LaM, I thought I would respond to your email here and just say I am not going to put on my profile that I am a breeder into poly relationships... I just do not think that would be wise.

kittensmailbox -> RE: How rude (6/6/2006 8:21:18 PM)

Enigmabrat.... i have been reading some of your posts, you don't seem to be having too much luck...  It is a shame that you have met with so many mean ppl...

Lordandmaster -> RE: How rude (6/6/2006 8:40:14 PM)

Hey, no need to get so defensive sweetheart.

Shit, I should have done this with LROD.  It's too annoying to log off and log back in sometimes.

Two points here:
  1. Once you place anything in the publice forum using any media, you have given people the right to make commentary on that information you have given, from a content and presentation aspect. If you don't want critiques done place anything at all in a public arena. It is fair to say that many comments are positive and thus may be benificial. That some people use private means of communication to voice their oppinion may well mean that they wish not to cause embarrasment to the owner of the original material. Of course it may also be due to their not wanting to draw flack for sounding nasty too....
  2. When any one starts to complain about unfavourable criticisms in any format, they by their very actions are attempting to force their beliefs, attitudes and/or standards upon others who have differing eliefs, attitudes and/or standards. Those who so do this complaining about people who believe and do things differently are no better than the right wing Christians who will never stop untill they are wiped off the face of the earth (My personal choice) or untill few people listen to them.

the second point is a very sore point for me havig needed to battle this same mentality in local, state and federal politics when some blkue collar wowser tries to stop everything from strip clubs to brothelks and adult shops/magazines/websites....

On a final note regarding profiles, I as have others have in the past invited people to read and either post or contact me privately with their thoughts. I have my profile because I want it read so folks can see where I'm comming from and this especially applies to slaves who may think they will be suitable for me..

I  think putting something in a public message board gives someone the right to respond.  It actually invites it.  But having a profile doesnt mean people have a 'right' to just shoot off critical emails for the sake of being nasty, or even for the sake of giving 'constructive criticism".  Maybe their critisism is not wanted.  What makes a person think that their opinion of the profile is more important than the authors opinion of it?   I find it rude and offensive and would only email someone if I had something to say to them or ask them in regards to possibly having something in common, or something positive to say.  I would never email someone to critisise their beliefs or their writings.  Its like saying,= since your shades are open, I have the right to critisize what your home looks like inside.   If you dont like it, you dont enter.  You dont knock on their door and suggest they rearrange their furniture.

This must be a problem for alot of people.  I personally would just delete and block.  But Ive seen alot of related threads on this type of thing where people are really pissed about mail.  It can be offensive to find, but damn, just block it and move on.

trippingdaisy -> RE: How rude (6/6/2006 9:06:40 PM)

i am going to reiterate what a few O/others have said: When you place a public profile on any site, you open yourself up for criticism, whether or not it's constructive. There are going to be people that dislike what you have to say, and there's nothing you can do about that. It's impossible to please 100% of the people 100% of the time.

michaelGA2 -> RE: How rude (6/6/2006 9:08:45 PM)

at least there would be SOMETHING in my box...LOL

spankmepink11 -> RE: How rude (6/7/2006 6:03:22 AM)

After reading of so many problems people seem to have with email, that i have not experienced i'm beginning to think i must be incredibly uninteresting......I think i once received  an email that said what i desired was a contradiction in terms and to "explain myself"   and gosh...i worried about that for a whole nanosecond....right before i deleted  the email, never to hear from that person again. I've never even had to block anyone.  I think i'll consider myself lucky, and advise the OP  not take unsolicited negativity personally....as Celest said...no one has power over you unless you give it to them.

I know, it just pisses me off is all
I have nothing offensive in my profile at all
I guess Im just a bit sensative plus the fact Id never message a person like that

You seem to get pissed off very easily and by a lot of things not within your control...or by things that seem to have very little actual effect on your life.

Doesn't that get tiring and take away from a lot of happiness you could be having?

zumala -> RE: How rude (6/7/2006 7:24:20 AM)

In reply to the OP:

Yeah, yesterday, actually.  I don't often get critical e-mails, thank goodness.  The one yesterday was from a female sub who seemed to think it necessary to tell me that I needed sexual therapy and didn't belong on CM because I was married and not looking for sex with someone besides my husband.

I simply wrote her back with "Thanks..." and then blocked her and deleted the mail.

Excellent way of putting it!

servicing -> RE: How rude (6/7/2006 1:44:52 PM)

Id like to know why some people here feel they have the righ to cretiqu someone els's profile I mean if you dont like something someone says in there profile dont Messege them no one is asking for your opinion on in. So tell me this why cant people just keep their negativity to themselvs. it isnt possative critisim if it wasnt wanted or asked for. Some people have this sence that they are better then you and there for have a right to say things about other people.
   has this happend to others??
getting messages from people who arent interested in you but only wish to tell you things they dont like about your profile??

No, it's never happened to me....in the hundreds of mails that I've had since I joined CM. They've all been polite and respectful.

A few men have mentioned that they'd have preferred me to have stated on my profile that I'm owned, even in that, they've been polite.

What were the comments that bothered you, was any of it constructive at all?.....It may give you an idea of how you *come across*....sometimes it's difficult to see these things yourself.

Regards, agirl
