control panel, users, or manage users. should see the option there to add password. you also may want to add a screen saver password that requires re-entry of the password to get back in past screen saver. go to control panel, display, screen saver tab, and check or select password. you can also set a bios password, regardless of operating system. to do this, restart the computer, and continually press (over and over, fairly rapidly) F2. this will delay entry into windows, and enter the bios settings. use the arrow keys to navigate menu, and press enter to make a menu selection. navigate to and enter a password. you will have to enter this every time you start or restart your computer. keep in mind that neither of these passwords are particularly secure, and any professional hacker and certainly a forensic scientist could fairly easily by-pass or defeat the password. but it's fine for keeping Uncle Larry outta your shite.
